ABOUT THE POSITION

Bandon School District is seeking an educational leader to serve as Superintendent of Schools starting in the 2015-16 school year. The successful candidate must have experience as an educational leader and administrator, proven leadership skills, fiscal management experience, bargaining experience, and excellent employee relation skills. Preferred candidates will demonstrate experience as a superintendent. Must have a passion for kids and for the mission of a K-12 small rural district, and a desire to maintain a high level of community involvement. DISTRICT PROFILE

Our district is composed of three schools with approximately 730 students. Our excellent administrators, teachers, and staff strive towards providing top quality educational programs along with offering a variety of first class extracurricular activities.

We are known for our academic excellence, as well as our ability to meet the needs of all of our students. We have a record of outstanding state school report cards, including a ranking of “Model” school at our middle school for two years in a row. Extra-curricular activities include an award winning Speech team, a Robotics team, a service learning project called “Go Native”, an ASPIRE program, a leadership class, an after school program at the middle school, as well as sports programs for both middle and high school students.

We recently completed upgrades to our buildings and facilities through a $1.5 million dollar bond. We just received notice of an award of $824,496 for seismic rehabilitation.

COMMUNITY PROFILE

Home to approximately 2900 residents, Bandon-by-the-sea is a small coastal community located on the beautiful Pacific Coast at the mouth of the Coquille River approximately 25 miles south of Coos Bay and 75 miles north of the California border. Bandon is known for its cranberries, its golf courses, its beauty, and all that it offers for recreation – whether it be beachcombing, or eating cheese, or fishing and crabbing, or hiking.
