 7-Eleven was the first retailer to offer fresh-brewed coffee in to-go cups, introducing it in their Northeast stores in 1964.  Most customers want a beverage with their favorite donut – 70 percent choose a cup of 7- Eleven® coffee.  What’s the #1 market for 7-Eleven coffee consumers? It’s Long Island where our fans love their coffee. The next biggest coffee market for 7-Eleven is the Queens borough of New York City, followed by southern Maryland.  Of all its proprietary products, 7-Eleven sells more fresh-brewed coffee than anything else – 1 million cups each day. That’s more than 10,000 pots of coffee an hour every hour of every day of the year. In fact, 7-Eleven could serve a cup of coffee to almost every person every day in its hometown of Dallas – now that’s a Texas-sized coffee break.  We source only the finest beans and use 100% Arabica grown in high altitudes in Central and South America, rather than robustas.  Café Select® coffees were introduced in 7-Eleven stores in 1997 and are carefully crafted blends.  In 2007, 7-Eleven introduced nationwide the first herbal-extract enhanced coffee sold in a cup and called it Fusion Energy.  In 2009, 7-Eleven brought Iced Coffee in French Vanilla and Mocha flavors to its stores. Refrigerated beverage dispensers now deliver iced coffee for enthusiasts at 6,000 U.S. 7-Eleven stores.

Coffee Survey Results*

 65% of Americans drink coffee during the week. Among them the average consumption is nearly two cups a day (13 cups per week).  Three in five coffee drinkers need a cup a coffee to start their day.  28% of coffee drinkers have their first cup of coffee within 15 minutes of waking up in the morning and 68% have a cup within an hour.  75% of coffee drinkers admit that having a cup of coffee is part of their daily routine.  Three in four coffee drinkers prefer to fix their own coffee rather than have a barista, food service employee or machine prepare it.  Seventy percent of Midwesterners say they drink at least one cup of coffee per week (compared to 61% in the South, 65% in the West and 68% in the Northeast).

* The Opinion Research Corporation International (ORC) fielded a telephone survey about coffee trends on behalf of 7-Eleven among a nationally representative sample of 1,009 Americans. The data has been weighted based on U.S. Census data in regards to age, sex, geography, race and education. Interviewing for the survey was completed between September 8-12, 2011. Results have a margin of error of +/- 3% at the 95 percent confidence level.
