Poseidon Improves Position at Age Group Champs

Poseidon Traveled to Christiansburg, Virginia to compete in this year’s Age Group Championship meet with the largest numbers of swimmers in the past several years. Poseidon was able to move up 2 places in the overall team standing from last year’s results.

Highlighting the weekend’s performances were several swimmers who were able to break 6 Poseidon team records. Meghan Burton, 11-12 Girls, bested Poseidon’s team record in both the 50 fly (27.63) and 50 back (28.44). Also in the 11-12 girls, Casey Fanz swam to a team record in the 50 free with a time of 25.03. In the 13-14 boys age group, Andy Branin re-set his own team records in the 50 and 100 free with times of 21.82 and 49.04, missing the meet record by .01 in the 50 free.

Poseidon had one relay team break a team record on the weekend. The 13-14 boys 200 free relay of Peter Grap, Andy Branin, Patrick Groh, and Matthew Cherry swam to a record breaking time of 1:32.52.

Overall Poseidon had roughly 75% best times above the average of a successful championship meet. Once again, Poseidon stepped up to meet the challenge of swimming fast during championship season.

Poseidon will be sending 16 swimmers to the Nike Showcase Classic in Clearwater FL April 6th-9th, those swimmers include: Casey Branin, Meghan Burton, Casey Fanz, Hailey Ladd, Caroline Henry, Emma Call, Sarah Woodmansee, Michelle Musco, Haley Lieberman, Livvy Call, Taylore Vossler, Lexie Stavac, Kira Tomenchok, Andy Branin, Peter Grap, and Patrick Groh. Also qualifying for the meet but not attending was Albert Thompson and Sam Kettlewell-Sites. Albert Thompson will be representing Poseidon and VA on the VA Zone Team in Buffalo NY.
