Critical Data Element In order to increase the number of graduating seniors applying to college a presentation was provided to both students and parents concerning college readiness and the transition from high school to college. Out of 100 junior class students, 68 reported that they had already engaged in a conversation Statement Linking Data Element to regarding post-secondary options with their Achievement parents, while 31 students reported that they 40% of the 2014 graduating class had not engaged in a discussion with their attended a 4-year institution. Out of parents concerning post-secondary education, 100 students of the current junior class, and 1 student did not answer 72 of them plan to attend a 4-year institution after viewing the college readiness presentation.

Systemic Changes: School counselors play an important role in motivating students to achieve a post-secondary education. It is critical to acknowledge the importance of parental involvement in the student’s future decisions. In addition, getting the parents to start discussing their student’s aspirations and goals early on is key factor in their academic success.
