Background information Cyber Security has risen up the political and economic agenda over the last few years, and the HEA have supported a number of projects designed to enhance learning and teaching in this important area. To further disseminate good practice we are offering travel awards to enable students who have been involved in projects looking at learning and teaching in Cyber Security to attend the HEA Annual Conference. The HEA Annual Conference provides a platform for all of those engaged in higher education to share their experiences, ideas, research and good practice in a community of their peers. Day 3 of the conference (6th July, 2017) will be dedicated to STEM activities. Cyber security touches many disciplines outside of the computer sciences, including law, business studies and psychology, so we will be particularly interested to see multidisciplinary or interdisciplinary approaches. Guidance for potential applicants The Cyber Security Travel Fund is being offered to enable students to present a poster on good practice in learning, teaching or assessment in Cyber Security at the HEA Annual Conference. 1. The poster should describe a project or an activity which has enhanced their learning experience in cyber security in Higher Education. The project may be situated within any discipline, or it may take a multidisciplinary or interdisciplinary approach. 2. The fund is only open to students from HE providers subscribing to the HEA. 2. The funding will cover one-day attendance at the conference on the 6th July, 2017 and UK travel to the venue in Manchester, up to a maximum of £250.00 3. Applicants must complete the submission form (below) for their poster and provide formal approval from their institution. This can be achieved by asking a Head of School/Course Director to submit the proposal (attached electronically) to [email protected] confirming approval. 4. Posters jointly authored by staff and students will be considered, however the role of the students in the project must be clearly articulated. 4. Successful applicants will be expected to write a ‘blog’ style reflection on their project or on the impact of attending the conference. Payment of travel expenses will be made on receipt of this account, which must be completed within three months of attending the conference. Eligibility for funding will expire after three months have elapsed. Authors may be invited to publish their blogs on the HEA website. 5. The HEA aims to support a range of institutions through this initiative. The HEA therefore reserves the right to ensure an even distribution of funds.
