With a gain of 84 yards, Joseph Battle 32 completed all three passes for touchdowns, and he also rushed for 33 105 yards to post three touchdowns; and 34 35 Whereas, Abbeville’s Khalil Fuller posted 112 yards rushing and a 36 touchdown for the Panthers, and teammate Ventray Belton made 37 two catches for 45 yards and two touchdowns; and 38 39 Whereas, boasting an 113 season, the Panthers rushed and 40 pounded their way to become only one of eleven teams in Palmetto 41 State history to win seven or more state championships; and 42

[998] 2 1 Whereas, in a sport that demands strength, expertise, and 2 determination, Head Coach Jamie Nickles and his skilled coaching 3 staff capitalized on their own athletic ability and training to build a 4 championship team and teach these athletes vital life lessons, 5 inestimable both on and off the gridiron; and 6 7 Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate value the 8 respect and recognition that the Abbeville High School football 9 players have brought to their school and their community and look 10 to hear of their continued achievements in the days ahead. Now, 11 therefore, 12 13 Be it resolved by the Senate: 14 15 That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, 16 recognize and honor the Abbeville High School varsity football 17 team, coaches, and school officials for an outstanding season and 18 congratulate them for winning the 2015 Class AA Division II State 19 Championship title. 20 21 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to 22 Dr. Charles Costner, Principal of Abbeville High School, and 23 Coach Jamie Nickles. 24 XX 25
