With One Partner, Or Individually If You Choose, You Will Create an Allegory Where Your

GOAL: With one partner, or individually if you choose, you will create an allegory where your protagonist goes on a metaphorical journey in order to change a negative attribute about their self, just like Dante did in The Inferno and Scrooge in A Christmas Carol. You can have the protagonist in your story be yourself or an allusion to someone famous (modern or historical).

PROJECT TIMELINE: Monday, Feb 4 th - Thursday, Feb 14 th

 Presentation Requirements & Brainstorming: Monday, Feb 4th  Create your Journey: Wednesday, Feb 6th- Friday, Feb 8th  Presentations: Tuesday, Feb 12th & Thursday, Feb 14th

STRUCTURE & REQUIREMENTS:

1. You should showcase your metaphorical journey in a PowerPoint presentation.

2. Here are some questions to guide your creation:

 What is your protagonist’s end goal?  What is the metaphorical comparison in the journey? Is it too literal to be an allegory?  What are the symbols you will use? What are the actual objects? What abstract ideas do they stand for?  What are the “levels” in your journey?  What/who will your allusions be? Who will be your protagonist’s guide? Who will be the “monsters” keeping your protagonist from achieving his/her end goal?

3. Upload your presentation to our class SharePoint site, not your personal one, under the assignment titled “Metaphorical Journey.” Label your file according to your first and last name.

4. Be sure to print out (6 slides per page) your presentation to turn in with your rubric on the day of presentations.

5. Exit Slips- Individually, after each presentation, students will reflect on the implementation of allegory. Was the journey allegorical? Is it a metaphor or is it too literal? How do we know?

6. You will be graded using the rubric on the reverse. Allegorical Journey Rubric
