HILL, CAPTIAN THOMAS FAMILY CEMETERY

The following information was provided by Jerrilynn Ebby McGregor.

Leonard Hill (died c. 1813) acquired the Petmouth Grove tract in 1784. Leonard married Eleanor Roy. Bothe Leonard and Eleanor Roy Hill are probably buried here.

Leonard’s son Capt. Thomas Hill (c. 1782 – c. 1870), inherited the part of Petmouth Grove that included the house. Thomas married a cousin, Mary Hill (c. 1782 – after1880). Both are more than likely buried here.

Thomas and Mary had four unmarried daughters who inherited Petmouth Grove and lived together at the house. They were: Susan Catherine Hill (c. 1815 – after 1880), Julia Elizabeth (c. 1817 – after 1870), Elizabeth Ann (c. 1820 – after 1870) and Mary Jane (c. 1821 – c. 1902). All four of these girls are likely buried here.

There are only field stone markers in this cemetery.
