PROGRAM 2016 Human Trafficking Awareness Month Closing Event February 10, 2016, 5:30pm – 7:30pm San Francisco Main Public Library, Koret Auditorium 5:30pm Welcome: Marianna Warmee, Federal Administrative Judge, US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Chair of SFCAHT (5:35) Welcomes guests, performers and participants in the contests Introduces the moderator, Rose Mukhar, Social Justice and Victims’ Rights Attorney, Member of the SFCAHT’s Steering Committee
5:35pm Opening remarks: Madeleine Matz , Anna He, Stephanie Lii, Jilian Wu and/or Hatim Mansori, San Francisco Youth Commissioners. They will talk about what HT is and why it is important that youth become aware and the relevance of youth educating youth about CSEC. 10-15 minutes total depending on how many speak
5:45pm Performance of the Livewater Band Noam Franbuch, Sophia Kaufmann, Nicole Bloch & Josephine Trilling – The band will perform 2 songs
6:00pm Presentation of Awards to the Poster and Writing Contests’ Winners San Francisco Supervisor Katy Tang, “District 4” Poster contest winners: 1st place $500 - Grace Sun, San Mateo High School 2nd place $200 - Jonathan Aguilar, San Francisco City Arts & Technology High School 3rd place $50 - Kevin Ko, Alameda Science and Tech Institute High School Organizers Special Recognition for Originality $100 - Noa Davidovich, Miramonte High School, Orinda Writing contest winners: 1st place $500 - Megan Tran and Ankita Nambian, Dougherty Valley High School “Amanda Kim was reported to be missing on January 16th, 2016…” 2nd place $200 - Mansee Khurana from Dougherty Valley High School, “Lost Reminders.” 3rd place is a tie: two awards, $50 each - Ahleahyah Piggee, Lincoln High School, “It Could Be Me. It Could Be You.” AND Joseph Sablosky, James Lick Middle School, “The Journal of F. Drake Allen.”
6:25pm National Council of Jewish Women Youth Scholarship Awards Presentation Debra and Janet Surkin, NCJW members, present two awards of the Nancy Surkin Memorial Scholarship to two youth survivors of human trafficking, clients of MISSSEY, accepted on behalf of the recipients by Rose Mukhar Robin Brasso, NCJW Policy Chair, presents two awards of the Lillian Foreman Memorial Scholarship to two youth clients of the Huckleberry Youth Program, Tiffany Castro and Persephony Palacios. The awards will be accepted either by the clients or on behalf of them by the Huckleberry Youth Program representative Meghan Kearney
6:35 Presentation: Kitty Hu, Teen Activist, International Interact Project, talk about InterAct 5170 .
6:40 Performance: Genevieve Tango, Youth Activist and Advocate Leader, will perform her spoken word entitled “Lessons.”
6:45 Presentation: Laura Jo Stopps, Volunteer, Love Never Fails, will address being a parent and trying to protect and at the same time educate her teens about exploitation
6:50 Presentation: Lisa J. Blanchard, Founder and Executive Director of Grateful Garment Project, Returning Dignity to Victims of Sexual Violence will talk about her program and how she incorporates youth into her projects so they can fulfill their community service activism. She will also bring two of her volunteer youth who will each address what they have done in their own schools to promote awareness of human trafficking: Emily Moreno, High School Student - she was one o the young ladies featured in the SJ Mercury News article Ryan Tran, Junior High Student 6:58 Performance: Regent Collective Dance Company of Notre Dame High School. 6 dancers will perform “in•can•ta•ion”
7:04 Performance: Breaking the Barriers Choir with Co-executive Director of Youth Utilizing Power and Praise Organization, Shelene Huey-Booker. 6-10 singers will be sining one song, “Imagine Me,” in conjunction with Regent Collective Dance Company
7:10 Closing Remarks: Emily Murase, Immediate Past President of the San Francisco School Board and Executive Director of the San Francisco Department on the Status of Women
