Once both hardcopy and softcopy is received and approved, the School will register the course SM4602 Pre-Production and Prototype (Phase I) in Semester A on your behalf.

At the same time, the student should also email a soft copy to both SCM and CS advisor for their reference. Any late submission will not be accepted nor processed! The school will assume the student opt NOT to enroll into the final year graduation project in 17-18.

2. BScCM has separated the final year graduation project (FYP) into two phases - Phase I (semester A): Pre-Production & Prototype and Phase II (semester B): Production. Each phase carries 3 credit units. The student must get a pass grade in Phase I in order to proceed to Phase II. Before the summer term, students are required to select and consult with their desired FYP advisors, and start performing their ideation, research, analyse, development, proposal writing and project planning throughout the summer. Those outcomes will need to be injected into the Phase I: Pre-Production and Prototype and Phase II: Production.

 Phase I (semester A): Pre-Production and Prototype This phase focuses on insight & idea generation, concept & design development, research & analyse, feasibility studies, usability studies, prototyping, mock up making, experiment, problem solving, pre-production, pre- visualization, assets preparation & management, team building, interpersonal communication, documentation, demonstration and presentation & critique.

 Phase II (semester B): Production This phase is the production phase based on the outcomes from the phase I. It focuses on project management, interpersonal communication, workflow management, production, assets preparation & management, testing, de-bug, problem solving, optimisation & fine-tuning, post-production, documentation, demonstration, infographics, presentation & critique.

3. The student must obtain potential advisors’ consent and signature before submitting this form. The School is not responsible for arranging advisor for any student. The yearlong graduation project will be co-supervised by both SCM and CS faculty or teaching staffs. There should be at least ONE advisor from each of SCM and CS. Please refer to the lists of CS and SCM staff members and their areas of interests who may take up the role as advisors in here:

5. The student can only change the Advisors and FYP topic within the first week of Semester A, 2017 /18 with strong justification and approval from course leader. You need to fill in this form again and inform the General Office of the changes. Major changes after this period are NOT RECOMMENDED. If you insist, you are required to provide substantial justifications for the School’s re-consideration.

6. With the research, analyse and development outcomes from the summer term, the student is required to refine, consolidate and resubmit the Final Version of this form again as a final confirmed proposal at the beginning of semester A.
