The Northern Regional Alliance is owned by the three Auckland regional DHBs and governed by a Board comprising two directors from each shareholding DHB and two directors appointed from Northland DHB. Part of the Northern Regional Alliance manages the operations of the RMO (junior doctor) workforce and this includes the recruitment, clinical training, rostering and daily operations of this group in the Auckland region.

The primary role of the Allocations and Training Specialist is to allocate each RMO’s clinical placement throughout the year in order to support their specialist training and to gain vocational registration. In addition it is to work with the regional training committees to manage RMO career progression. This role also provides daily advice and guidance to RMOs on matters such as training expense reimbursements, dealing with complaints, ideas and feedback as well as changes to allocations.

Hence the role has many opportunities to liaise and build key relationships with internal stakeholders such as the training doctors, Service Managers, Clinical Directors, Supervisors of Training and Chairs of Training Committees. External stakeholders would include the Medical Council of New Zealand, and New Zealand Immigration. Day to day liaison also occurs with the recruitment, daily operations and rostering teams to ensure RMOs start on time, and vacancies are covered and consistent practices prevail.

This position demands high attention to detail, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a strong customer focus and a proven capability to deliver quality outcomes within inflexible deadlines. In addition, you will need to be able to demonstrate your knowledge and experience across all or part of the following

 Working directly with and relating well to senior management and/or clinical staff  Excellent MS Office software skills including database use  Strong time management and office administrative skills  Professional written and verbal communication with a wide range of stakeholders
