Friends and Neighbours Lucy and Kate are neighbours and they’re the same age. They are also best friends. They go to the same school but they are very, very different! Lucy is an only child but she isn’t hard- working. She doesn’t help her parents with the housework and she hates tidying her room. Lucy’s hobbies are surfing the Internet and chatting online with her classmates. She isn’t interested in sports. She never exercises! On weekdays, she listens to pop music in her bedroom because it helps her to relax. At the weekends, she visits her uncle Martin and his wife. They have a baby and Lucy likes to look after him when his parents go to a party on Saturday nights.

Kate has got six brothers. She is the eldest. When her mother cleans the house, Kate does the washing and irons clothes. She enjoys helping her mother with the housework. After school, she cooks dinner for the family. Her favourite food is spaghetti. When she finishes her homework, she listens to classical music. After that, she takes a shower and reads in bed. She thinks reading is good because a lot of books are very interesting. She also loves sports! She is athletic. She plays basketball for her school team. She trains every weekend. Kate wants to be a professional player.

‘We’re very different. We don’t like the same things but we like each other. I consider Lucy as a sister. She also has the same feeling,” says Kate. So, they are lucky to be friends and neighbours at the same time! II- Comprehension. (8 pts)
