Book Jacket Book Report

For this book report, you will create a book jacket that tells about the book you have just read. Follow the directions below to complete the jacket and be ready to present it in class on February 2nd. Take pride in your work. Use your best penmanship, add color and pictures, edit for spelling and grammar errors, and pay particular attention to your word choice. Neatness counts! For this book report please select a fantasy book to report on. If you need a suggestion ask your teacher.

How to Make a Book Jacket: ***Your teacher will provide you with paper.**** 1. From the left side, measure in 3 inches, then 6 inches, then 6 inches, and then 3 inches. 2. Lightly draw vertical lines at each spot you measured. Then the paper can be folded inward along the lines. Check with the diagram below.

Putting It All Together

Front Cover: On the front cover you need to include the title of the book, the author’s name, your name, the date and an interesting picture drawn by you.

Back Cover: On the back cover write a summary of the events in the book. Remember, the summary states the facts, not what you thought about the book.

Inside Front Flap: Write a detailed description of the main character of the book. Use the graphic organizer provided to help get you started.

Inside Back Flap: Write down the reasons why you liked the book. Try to sell others on reading this book. Timeline to complete project:

By January 12: Choose a book and show it to me for approval. By January 26: Read the book. Grading Rubric On January 27: Begin decorating the book jacket. Remember to follow rubric guidelines for full credit. Book Jacket Report By February 1: Finish your report, you do not need to bring it in until you present. On February 2: Present your book report to the class.
