A basic course with the name "Probability Methods in Engineering" given in HEC curriculum is supposed to introduce probability and statistics. However, it does not fulfill Probability the requirements the curriculum unless "Random Variables" are and properly covered. Therefore, the course, I have taught with Aamer Munir EE319 Random emphasis on engineering examples, covers the needs of the EE Processes curriculum and is recommended to be included in the HEC curriculum. Given that the students would study only a single course in probability, the contents of the course cannot encompass "Random Processes". It is therefore recommended that the course be named "Probability and Random Variables", instead of "Probability and Random Processes", since it would be more in line with the learning objectives

24 Question 3: Assessment tools used during semester

Most of the tools used for assessment of students by faculty members are listed below:

1. Quizzes

2. Assignments

3. Projects

4. Sessional

5. Final Exam

In addition to above listed tools, some courses that were based on drawing and design were assessed through practical projects.

Sara Qazi Business MG324 This course was modified considerably for graduating batch of Ethics FAST Management School in spring 2016. The aim was to provide the students with understanding of moral paradigms within the business context while basing the content on three broad dimensions which were primarily 1) Theories of Business Ethics 2) Corporate Social Responsibility and 3) Corporate Governance inclusive of Moral leadership. During the development of the course it was considered that students must obtain the skills of differentiating between right and wrong especially within a business context therefore the course content incorporated experiential learning of practical business ethics applications while simultaneously advancing their knowledge in concepts/ principles such as morality, values, norms, codes and cultural beliefs. Eventually most of our graduating students do acquire jobs and in the long run they become strategic partners and leaders in organizations therefore it was pertinent to equip the students with decision making frameworks with competencies of providing ethical practical solutions, analyzing whether an act is just or not and to resolve ethical dilemmas both in their professional and personal lives. It is certainly a fact that a person’s moral and ethical disposition usually develops during childhood, adolescence, initial period of youth and day to day leave however this course covered societal factors especially with regards to organizational impact. Subsequently students were also to develop their sense of responsibilities and obligations as members of workforce as well as society through understanding organizational stakeholders, employee rights, role of government, media, marketing, consumer product, economic/ fiscal policies, environment concerns through and corporate social responsibility standards. Students also deliberated contemporary ethical concerns facing businesses, which include components such as moral reasoning/ relativism, law, equity, justice/ fairness and minimum ethical standards. Simultaneously students also developed understanding of traditional philosophies such as Utilitarianism, Kantianism, and Hedonism etc. The aim was also that students develop a moral compass through different perspectives, normative theories and classical concepts. Crucially a main aim of the course was to develop a wholesome workforce with courage, fairness, perseverance to use power, money, and influence others in constructive ways. The basic modifications consisted of introducing more case based discussions to facilitate practical learning of students. Lectures such as Social

49 Responsibility were merged with Universal Standards while newer relevant statistics and facts were added to the lectures.
