SKIING/SNOWBOARDING DATES, TIMES, AND PLACES The six ski club trips are on the following Fridays: January 17, 24, 31, February 7, 14, 21 weather permitting. If weather is a problem, we will do our best to reschedule the trip. We will be leaving immediately after school on these days and heading up to Snow Summit Mountain Resort in Big Bear. We will get off the slopes by 8:30 pm and be back on the bus before 8:45 pm. DO NOT BE LATE!!!!! We should be back in front of Beattie at approximately 10:15pm each night. Parents-Please be on time as the teachers who chaperone these events are volunteering their time and would like to get home. If a parent is more than 15 minutes late picking up their child, that child will sit out the first hour on the following trip. ______Student Initials Parent Initials
SKIING/SNOWBOARDING PACKAGES Please select one of the following packages. All packages include round trip bus transportation to and from Beattie Middle School. If you are a first time skier/snowboarder, you MUST have a lesson! 1 *Lesson will be given on the first trip only. (January 17th, 2012) Make up lessons can be arranged with Snow Summit for January 24th. Parent will need to call and schedule. ______Student Initials Parent Initials CODE OF CONDUCT 1. All students must wear their Beattie Ski/Snowboard Club ID cards OUTSIDE their jackets at ALL times. Any student whose ID card is not visible will lose the privilege of skiing for the remainder of that trip. 2. There will be helmet rule in effect for ALL skiers and snowboarders. If you forget your helmet, you will not go on the trip. Wrist guards will also be required for all snowboarders. Most of the injuries in the past have been broken wrists of snowboarders without wrist guards. You must carry your helmet and wrist guards onto the bus and show it as you board. There are no helmet or wrist guard rentals available. HELMET POLICY: We require that all skiers and snowboarders wear helmets at all times on the slopes, even while waiting in line. This is something we at Beattie take very seriously. Any student not wearing a helmet during trips 1, 2, or 3 will be banned from the remainder of the Ski/Snowboard trips this school year. Any student not wearing a helmet on trips 4, 5, or 6 will be banned from the remainder of the Ski/Snowboard trips this school year and will be banned from Ski/Snowboard Club for the following school year. The NO REFUND rule will still apply. 3. Any student who does not follow bus rules on the way to Snow Summit will lose the privilege of skiing on that entire trip. Any student who does not follow bus rules on the way home will lose the privilege of attending the next trip. 4. Any student who does not follow rules at Snow Summit will be pulled off of the slope and lose the privilege of attending the next trip. 5. We do anticipate that students will have cell phones with them. However, they are not to be used on the bus unless told to by a chaperone. Anyone found using a cell phone on the bus will lose 1 hour of skiing. 6. Any student who is late getting to the bus after school, (after 3:30) will be left behind. We will not wait. 7. Any student late getting back to the bus at Snow Summit (after 9:00pm) will lose 1 hour of the next trip. 8. Any student who is picked up more than 15 minutes after the bus arrives back at Beattie Middle School will lose the first hour of skiing on the following trip. A second occurrence will result in losing the privilege to attend the entire next trip. 9. If any of the infractions occur, the student’s parents will be notified. 10. In the lower lodge, there is a bar upstairs. Students are not allowed in the bar at any time for any reason. 11. This is a school function and therefore, school rules apply. 12. Students may not attend if 1 or more of the following apply for the second quarter: -any student who has been suspended, received a citation, or received 10 lunch detentions -any student with 6 or more unexcused tardies. -any student whose name appears on the exclusion list 13. ANY STUDENT WHO LOSES THE PRIVILEGE OF ATTENDING ONE OR MORE OF THE SKI/SNOWBOARD TRIPS, LOSES THESE PRIVILEGES WITHOUT REFUND. ______Student Initials Parent Initials ON THE DAYS OF THE TRIPS STUDENTS WHO ARE ABSENT ON THE DAY OF THE TRIP WILL NOT ATTEND A SKI TRIP!!! Please come to school with your ski equipment and in addition, a change of warm ski clothes kept in a duffel bag which may be stored at school in the Multi-Purpose Room. A supervisor will meet you in the Multi- Purpose Room between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:35 a.m., for the purpose of storing the equipment. Make sure that you label your bag with your name prior to bringing it to school. Many bags look very similar and it is easy to mix them up. Marking bags is easily done with a luggage tag, duct tape, or a permanent marker. You will be given a claim ticket for your bags. DO NOT LOSE IT!!! Things not to forget: Helmet, wrist guards, equipment, ski pants & jacket, gloves, extra socks, money for dinner ($10-15 should be plenty), and money for a locker. (It is 4 quarters each time you need to re-lock.)
2 On the ski days you will not be dismissed early. You will get out at 3:15 p.m. when school is over. Immediately report to the Multi-Purpose Room with your claim ticket to change into your ski clothes and get your equipment. The MPR rest rooms will be available to change clothes. 3 CHAPERONES We will need parent chaperones for each of the trips. You do not need to attend all of the trips, so if you can only come some of the time, that is fine. To qualify as a chaperone, you must be the parent / step parent / legal guardian of one of the students attending the trip. You must also ride up and back down on the bus. If you would like to ski, you will receive a lift ticket free of charge. Rentals are on your own. You will be responsible to look out for the students from Beattie and report any misconduct to a Beattie teacher. If interested, email Mrs. Jackson at kandi_jackson.redlands.k12.ca.us for more clarification or to sign up as a chaperone. Any potential chaperones must fill out a short chaperone packet. If we have room, we will put you on a bus. Every parent must initial just in case you choose to chaperone any of the trips.

PAYMENT You may pay with check or money order made out to Beattie Middle School only, NO CASH PLEASE. In the memo line, please print the student’s full name. Place the payment into the envelope provided and take the entire packet to the window at the student center. Full refunds will be given up to Thursday, December 19th, 2013. After this date there will be absolutely no refunds as all fees that the school pays to the resort are non- refundable. ______Student Initials Parent Initials
MISCELLANEOUS Only students who are registered at Beattie Middle School are allowed on our skiing/snowboarding trips. Ski/Snowboard Club students are NOT allowed to ride in private vehicles to or from Snow Summit. Any student who leaves Snow Summit in a vehicle other than the bus you came up in will lose the privilege to attend any of the remainder of the trips and forfeit any money paid. If a student misses a trip for any reason, you have the right to your ski passes. You may pick up your tickets from Mrs. Jackson any time after a missed trip. These tickets may be redeemed at the Snow Summit ticket window for face value. The night time middle school lift tickets have a face value of $10. Rental and lesson tickets are good for full value. The tickets will NOT be refunded for cash! All tickets from missed trips must be claimed by Friday February 28th. (Or the Friday after the last trip) After this, no tickets will be returned. It is your responsibility to pick up tickets from Mrs. Jacksom. DO NOT COME TO MRS. JACKSON’S DURING CLASS.
