Get ready to DIVE into the oceans and begin a voyage to the ocean floor. We will learn about the creatures and plants that inhabit our shores and oceans. We will investigate the structure and features of the ocean floor. Also, the motion and movement of the ocean waters. We will discuss the three major groups of ocean life: plankton, nekton and benthos. So get ready to DIVE in!!
Begin by choosing a “marine creature” to research. Using the Internet and Library resources, gather information.

Project Overview:
Report Format: You will submit a report in your own words including the following information: Common Name, Scientific name Habitat (location, range) Physical description (characteristics, features, behavior, diet…) Other interesting information
Report should be a minimum of 1 page in length. Typed and double spaced using 12 point font. At least 2 references must be sited in MLA format; one must be from a book.
3-D Model: We will be making a 3-D model in class using supplies from the Art room. The “stuffed” paper model will be painted and decorated in class and hung in the classroom to create an “underwater world”. Come to class with a good picture to begin this art project.
Presentation: List 5 interesting facts about your “marine creature” on a 3X5 card. Deliver facts to class and be prepared to answer questions.
