Guidelines for poster presentations at WAFL 2017

Poster display and discussion is an important scientific part of the conference. Posters are expected to be displayed during specific poster sessions. Authors are assigned to a poster session and will have to be present in front of their posters during the poster sessions (according to the conference programme), to answer questions regarding their poster.

In addition to the specific poster sessions, we offer all presenters the possibility to display posters on TV screens during the breaks. If you would like your poster to be displayed on a TV screen, please send your poster to the organisers on August 30 the latest ([email protected]). Only pdf formats will be accepted for presentation on TV screens. The size of the file should not exceed 5 Mb.

Guidelines for posters

To ensure your poster fits the board comfortably, your poster must be in the format ISO A0 Portrait size (not landscape size). Landscape sized posters cannot be displayed. Your poster will be assigned to a numbered poster board. The posters should be mounted with pins. Pins will be available at the conference venue.

Boards will be ready for your use at the conference centre from 8 am on Tuesday 5 September. Please place your poster before the start of the conference on Wednesday 6 September; remove it shortly after the closing of the conference.

Size A0: Height x Width (cm) 119 cm x 84 cm

Height x Width (inches) 46.8 inch x 33.1 inch

Your poster must contain the following elements: Title, author(s) and institution (positioned at the top); aim, methods, results and conclusions. Visual presentations, e.g. graphs, histograms and photographs, are strongly encouraged. A photograph at the top right-hand corner of the poster would help the audience to identify the presenting author. A4 printouts of the poster are appreciated as handouts.

Best poster competition

PhD and MSc students are eligible to participate in the Best Poster Competition. The posters are evaluated by senior researchers assessing their scientific and presentation qualities. The price winner will be celebrated at the closing of the conference.
