LOGGING ON – YEAR 9 OPTIONS

Introduction Details of all year 9 students in Wales have been loaded into the careerswales.com site. Each school has a unique encrypted code via which the school coordinator can access this data. Your school will set up the system to meet your school requirements. Before making their choices each student will need to register within the system. These notes outline this process. Students will be unable to access their Free Choice Survey or KS4 Options Menu on line unless they are logged on. First time users Students are issued with a user name, constructed from the student’s own name, and a temporary encrypted password. This will be done via the administration system and generates a slip giving students these details – an example is below. Your coordinator can print and issue these or ask you to give them to students.

Careers Wales has been working with your school, local Network and the Welsh Assembly Government to help you with your choices for year 10 and beyond. We have created a new site to help you pick your options. To access this site you will needEXAMPLE a username and temporary password, these are:

You need to change your password when you log in and sign up to CWA terms and conditions of the site

 Students log on to the site using their user name and temporary password. NB Students cannot change their user name.  First time users will be prompted to change their password via the following screen.

 Students new password must be  At least 6 characters long  Include both lower and uppercase letters and a digit.  And be MEMORABLE!  There are a range of clear system prompts that will remind students how their password is to be structured.

Students should read the terms and conditions and privacy statements accessible at the bottom of the screen. Students need to agree to these conditions before they can complete their registration.

Users already registered Students already registered will simply need to log in with their user names and the memorable password they set up within the system.

Forgotten passwords Students who have forgotten their password need to have a temporary password reset by a member of staff with access to the administration system. The student can then use this temporary password to enter the system but must still reset the password to one of their own choosing.
