Tentative Schedule Overarching Essential Question: How do we create identity? Units Topics/Activities 1st Quarter Essential Questions: Innocence and  How does literature help us to better understand ourselves? Experience  How do our experiences impact our identity?  How do authors tell a “good” story? Texts:  Varied short stories, essays, articles, and poems, 1 independent novel of choice (realistic or historical fiction) Major Assignments:  Daily Grammar Practice  Narratives  Constructed Responses  Annotating Fiction  Independent Reading Conferences 2nd Quarter Essential Questions: Truth and  How does understanding our world, past and present, impact our Consequences identity?  In what ways are Shakespeare and his works still relevant today?  How do we balance being true to ourselves and meeting the expectations of others?
