WEST HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR BEHAVIOR AGREEMENT 2017-2018

Dear Parents of Graduating Seniors: August 2017

We know that as parents of seniors you view your student’s senior year with mixed emotions. You take pride in the achievements of your sons and daughters, but experience some sadness at their transition from childhood to adulthood. We congratulate you on their success and commend you for the support you have given and will continue to give your children. As we begin the school year, we wish to convey the message that everyone on campus is expected to continue to cooperate in maintaining a proper learning environment. The number one priority at our school is to provide students with an opportunity for an education. When student conduct is disruptive at school or any school related function, it becomes necessary to discipline the persons involved. It is our philosophy that there must be consequences for unacceptable behavior. Since seniors of any age remain students of this high school until they complete all graduation activities, this letter should clarify the school’s position regarding any senior involved in breach of discipline. All students, including seniors, are required to continue compliance with the school’s standards for behavior. A description of these rules and regulations was sent to all parents and guardians of West High School students. Please see Administrative Rule 5144 and the 2017-2018 School Standards and Discipline Procedures for a complete text. These regulations include but are not limited to: 1) Disruption of school activities including Commencement or Grad Night 2) Causing damage to school or private property 3) Causing physical injury to another person 4) Possessing, using, selling, furnishing, under the influence of, any controlled substance, alcoholic beverage, intoxicant of any kind or look-alike substance 5) Possessing tobacco, including e-cigarettes, on school premises or at a school activity 6) Intentionally engaging in harassment, threats, bullying or intimidation directed against a pupil or groups of pupils.
