Frank & Adele Nessel

All Stars Frank & Adele Nessel

Frank grew up in a family of four brothers and one sister in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia. He attended Our Lady Help of Christians and is a graduate of North Catholic High School. He also attended St. Joseph University. Adele also grew up in Port Richmond and, after attending seven years of public school, transferred to Our Lady Help of Christians. She went on to graduate from Little Flower High School. Adele and Frank met in the 8th grade while singing in the choir. They have many fond memories of outings with the choir as teenagers.

Adele and Frank married in 1954 and moved to Parkwood in September 1961, attending Mass at Our Lady of Calvary until St. Anselm Church opened. They have six children: Frank, Lynn, Mark, Christopher, Lisa and Matthew; all of whom attended St. Anselm School and Archbishop Ryan High School. They also have sixteen grandchildren.

Their strong Catholic faith has lead them on many pilgrimages to many different countries including the Holy Land.

Involved in numerous organizations and activities over the years, they have served as Eucharistic Ministers, were members of the Parish Council, RCIA, and PreCana. They remain involved in the Legion of Mary and St. Vincent DePaul Society. They are also choir members, attend the Pro-Life March and promote Divine Mercy Sunday.

Frank and Adele have been influenced by various priests who have served St. Anselm, especially Father Kowal and Father Murray and Deacon Whartenby. They have a special admiration for the dedication of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and have enjoyed the kindness and friendship of many of the people in the St. Vincent DePaul Society and the Legion of Mary.

Saint Anselm has truly felt like a second home. The Nessel’s feel truly blessed to be part of a wonderful parish and to have their six children receive their sacraments and a quality education here.

We, too, are blessed with Frank and Adele Nessel for the wonderful example they have shown throughout the years and the support they continue to give Saint Anselm Parish. God bless you both!
