As part of the teacher quality compensation available for professional development, the Teacher Quality Committee has agreed Learning Teams/Individuals will plan and implement professional development following the Iowa Professional Development Plan, see attached information. In addition, professional development must align with ICSD goals. To assist you in developing your plan, please answer the following questions and submit it to your building administrator.

You must seek approval from your building principal and the Director of School Improvement by July 14, 2017 if you are choosing this option. Approval for implementation plan is due by Sept. 15, 2017.

*Special Education teachers researched the issues surrounding post-secondary transitions for students. Current transitions were reviewed and areas of improvement were identified. Research was based on the improvement areas and work was done to better outcomes for students with IEPs.

*District provided workshops. If you are choosing this option please indicate which workshops you are interested in. Just because you indicate you are interested does not guarantee your spot, it just helps the district plan for these. Before each workshop, the district will send out an official registration form.

Below is a list of workshops the district is planning to offer. Exact dates and times will be communicated at the beginning of each month. The workshops will be approximately two or three hours in length.

MAP: I Have the Learn about the features of MAP and how teachers can use Data, Now What? MAP to support teaching. There will be time to look at your own classroom data.

November New Iowa Core Learn about the New Iowa Core Science Standards. Time Science Standards will be given to plan lessons/units that align with the Core and NGSS.

December Iowa Core Science We will continue working with the new standards and Continued developing lessons/units to match. Bring your whole team.

January All Things PLC Learn more about PLCs and the great work that can be (Elementary) done in your PLC. Learn how to get the most out of this time and how to impact student learning.

Authentic Intellectual Discover where we are at in the AIW process. What is AIW, Work (JSH) why is it beneficial, and what direction are we headed?

February Writing in a Learn strategies for writing in a workshop setting. Take a Workshop Setting look at how to use shared and modeled writing to get the most out instruction.

March Literacy Across the What should we be doing in the content areas with regards Content Areas to reading and writing. We will take a look at skills and strategies to teach and use in every subject area.
