Safety Concerns and Announcements –  The SIPE Board approved to waive the requirement for small districts to match the SIPE Credit Program and District Safety Coordinator Discretionary funds for the first year so that the small districts can participate in the Workers Compensation Premium Rebate Program. The Shandon Unified School District meets most of the requirements to obtain this additional funding other than we do not have a “Return to Work” program. Karen and Annie are working with SIPE to put together the program for the district. Monthly Safety Meetings must be conducted by every person who supervises employees. All supervisors will need to have a safety topic for a monthly meeting with their staff. Topics for a safety meeting are available on the SIPE website and the SISC website. Each supervisor will need to have a sign-in sheet with the date and topic included on the sheet.

Risk Management Report –  Karen reported on the last Risk Management meeting. Items discussed included that student workers are covered under the district Workers Compensation, SIPE is in the process of obtaining a new excessive comp carrier, and San Miguel is offering a CPR recertification class on May 4th from 1:15 to 4:15.
