1. CONSTRUCTION OF BRUCE-MILTON POWER CORRIDOR/MUNICIPALITY OF BROCKTON
A copy of a resolution from the Corporation of the Municipality of Brockton requesting Hydro One to allow for input and financial assistance for those affected by the construction of the corridor.
Recommendation: Council note the contents.
2. M.L.E.O. REPORT FOR MAY 2007
A copy of the M.L.E.O. Report for the month of May 2007.
Recommendation: Council note the contents.
3. MONTHLY BUILDING STATISTICS AND NEW TRUCK/C.B.O
A copy of the monthly building statistics for May 2007 and a request to proceed with the tender process for purchasing a new truck.
Recommendation: THAT Council note the contents of the building statistics report.
AND FURTHER THAT the Building Department be authorized to proceed with the tender process for the purchase of a new truck.
4. BIA MINUTES AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS
A copy of the minutes from the BIA for 2007 and a list of the Board of Directors.
Recommendation: Council note the contents.
5. SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA COMMUNITY POLICING COMMITTEE
A copy of the minutes from the South Bruce Peninsula Community Policing Committee meeting #53 held on April 10, 2007.
Recommendation: Council note the contents.
1 6. REQUEST FROM MUNICIPALITY/WIARTON BIA
A letter written by the BIA in response to a request from the municipality to change the venue of their meeting to the Council Chambers and operate under Town by-laws.
Recommendation: Refer to Committee of the Whole.
7. PIPING PLOVERS ON SAUBLE BEACH/ WALDMANN
An email from the Waldmann’s suggesting that the Town stop beach access within close vicinity to the piping plovers. The letter also brings forward some suggestions re parking of sail boats, location of swings, garbage barrels, and barriers on the beach side of the dunes.
Recommendation: That a letter be sent to Waldmann’s thanking them for their suggestions.
8. SALVIA DIVINORUM/CITY OF PORT COLBORNE
A resolution from the City of Port Colborne petitioning the Minister of Health to undertake a review of salvia divinorum and its derivatives with a view of taking the same proactive stance on the regulation of this substance for the health and safety of Canadians as other nations have done.
Recommendation: That the Council of the Corporation of the Town of South Bruce Peninsula support and endorse the resolution passed by the City of Port Colborne on May 14, 2007 re salvia divinorum.
9. REGULATE SALVAGE YARDS/EAST GWILLIMBURY
A resolution from the Town of East Gwillimbury requesting circulation of their by-law to regulate salvage yards to municipalities and the Ontario Auto Recyclers Association (OARA). The resolution also asks that OARA be requested to retain an inspector who would be fully trained, be prepared to assist with by-law enforcement, and be prepared to provide expert testimony in support of any charges under the Salvage Yard By-law with respect to the removal of mercury switches.
Recommendation: Council note the contents.
10. CANADA DAY COMMITTEE
A copy of the minutes from the Canada Day Committee meeting held on June 5, 2007.
Recommendation: That Council adopt the Canada Day Committee meeting minutes for the meeting held on June 5, 2007.
2 11. BAKE SALE/WIARTON KID’S DEN DAYCARE
A request from the daycare for use of the parkette on June 29, 2007 to hold a bake sale.
Recommendation: That permission be granted.
12. AMBULANCE SERVICE/SOUTH BRUCE GREY AMBULANCE CENTRE
A letter from the South Bruce Grey Health Centre regarding non-emergency ambulance transfers. The letter requests support from Council in their endeavor to have Bruce County Council revisit and postpone its decision to reduce access to non-emergency ambulance transfers and work with the hospitals to achieve the objective of improved response time without attracting additional cost.
Recommendation: Council note the contents.
