The Artistic Process…  Students will visualize and hypothesize to generate plans for ideas and directions for creating art and design that can affect social change.  Choose from a range of materials and methods of traditional and contemporary artistic practices, following or breaking artistic conventions, to plan the making of a series of works of art and design based on a theme idea or concept.  Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of balancing freedom and responsibility in the use of images, materials, tools, and equipment in the creation and circulation of creative works  Critique, justify, and present choices in the process of analyzing, selecting, curating, and presenting works of art for a specific exhibit or event. How is Work Graded? 75% Project Assessments This includes final assessments for short projects and graded stages for long projects.

15% Sketchbooks You will have weekly sketchbook assignments to complete at home. includes weekly sketchbook assignments, vocabulary definitions, written reflections, research, and presentations.

10% Visual Literacy This includes art research and reports, written reflections, art vocabulary, and participation in class discussions about art. Arriving Late  You must have a written excuse signed by your last teacher  If you have no excuse, you must sign a tardy (detention) sheet and give it to your teacher as soon as you arrive.

Cutting Class  Parents will be called at the first occurrence.

Art Room Maintenance  The art building is a community space that needs to be maintained for each individual to have a place to work free from the restrains of another’s negligence.

Consequences 1. Verbal warning 2. Call home 3. Detention (number of hours based on infraction – see Student Handbook) 4. Referral to Ms. Sneed, Assistant Principal or Dr. Kelly, Principal
