Paint the Town REaD (PTTR) Member of the Board of Directors PTTR’s vision is that all children in Australia will arrive at school ready to learn to read and write. PTTR is a collective impact early literacy community scheme that encourages whole communities to read, talk, sing and rhyme with children from birth, so that they will be ready for success with learning to read and write at school. PTTR supports over 50 local PTTR community currently partners with 19 Local Government agencies and has established netowrksworks in 47 locations across New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia.…

For more information, please refer to the PTTR website at www.paintthetownread.info Position The Board supports the work of PTTR and provides mission-based leadership and strategic governance. While day-to-day operations are led by PTTR’s chief executive officer (CEO)Executive Director (ED), the Board-CEO ED relationship is a partnership, and the appropriate involvement of the Board is both critical and expected. Specific Board Member responsibilities include: Leadership, governance and oversight  Serving as a trusted advisor to the CEO ED as she implements PTTR’s strategic plan  Reviewing outcomes and metrics created by PTTR for evaluating its impact, and regularly measuring its performance and effectiveness using those metrics; reviewing agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings  Approving PTTR’s annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions; being informed of, and meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities  Contributing to an annual performance evaluation of the CEO ED  Assisting the CEO ED and board chair in identifying and recruiting other Board Members  Partnering with the CEO ED and other board members to ensure that board resolutions are carried out  Serving on committees or task forces and taking on special assignments  Representing PTTR to stakeholders; acting as an ambassador for the organization  Ensuring PTTR’s commitment to a diverse board and staff that reflects the communities PTTR serves Board terms/participation PTTR’s Board Members will serve a three-year term and be eligible for re- appointment for two additional terms. Board meetings are held quarterly in Sydney NSW and committee meetings will be held in coordination with other committee members. Qualifications This is an opportunity for an individual who is passionate about PTTR’s mission and who has a track record in non-profit governance. Selected Board Members will have achieved leadership stature in business, government, philanthropy, media or the nonprofit sector. His/her accomplishments will allow him/her to attract other well- qualified, high-performing Board Members.

Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:  Extensive professional experience with significant experience and accomplishments in business, media, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector  A commitment to and understanding of PTTR’s beneficiaries, preferably based on experience  Savvy diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and persuading, convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals  Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving early childhood literacy in PTTR communities.  Hold Australian Residency  Hold a Working with Children Clearance for the Australian State they live in. Service on XYZ’s PTTR’s Board of Directors is without remuneration, except for expenses in relation to Board Members’ duties.
