Kings at Downside: Pupil Handbook

Kings at Downside: Pupil Handbook

Other Kings College Pupil Handbooks combine pre-arrival with on-course content and should form the basis of the requirements we need for KD. The Handbook is electronic so it is accessible on any PC or smart phone. Pupils have online access to it before they arrive.

The Kings Marketing team have said they would need 4 weeks to deliver the design and a further two weeks to print it, which would be six weeks in total. On appointment, the Centre Director would take final responsibility for the presentation of the content.

To make the content accessible to pupils of language level A2-B1 it will be important to grade the language and for the text to be accompanied by pictures and photographs where possible to supplement texts. Some of the latter pages in the Kings Bournemouth Handbook are taken up with detail of Homestay and residence rules which is not needed at KD since all pupils will be living at Kings House.

Information will also be displayed on noticeboards within Kings House to reinforce the Handbook’s content.

Personal Tutors and the PHSE programme will use the Handbook as a resource to reinforce important information and allow pupils to discuss and ask questions.

Pupils will also be issued with a homework diary for recording work to be done – This will also duplicate key information e.g. contact numbers* and daily routines. It will contain space for the academic timetable
