This assignment is worth 90 marks. You may select from any number of the following assignment choices as long as they add up to 90 and you have chosen at least one assignment from each of the three categories. If your choices add up to more than 90 you will receive bonus marks. This assignment is due on: ______.

Explorer Activities

 Choose a newspaper or textbook article about a local entrepreneur. Read it and prepare a ten point fact sheet (outline provided) about this entrepreneur and his/her business. 15 marks each + 5 bonus marks for presenting to class

 Watch the video about Terry Fox in class and list ten entrepreneurial characteristics (with examples) Terry demonstrated. 25 marks

 Read or listen to a book about an entrepreneur and answer teacher questions orally about the book. 30-60

 Choose 5 entrepreneurial people from the video series Biography of the Millennium (available from teacher) and outline their achievements and identify one entrepreneurial characteristic (with proof) that they have demonstrated. 25

 Interview an entrepreneurial teacher at PHS and write the questions and answers of the interview. (see me for names) 25

 Read a short story to the class about an entrepreneurial person. 15

 Research a famous entrepreneur and choose 10 entrepreneurial characteristics demonstrated by this person (with proof). Examples Bill Gates, Thomas Edison, Howard Hughs, Oprah, Mike Lazaridis (RIM), Terry Fox, Michael Dell, Walt Disney, Leonardo DaVinci, Preston Tucker (movie available) etc. 30

 Design a poster illustrating an entrepreneurial characteristic. (Choose from teacher.) 10 marks each

 Write a descriptive story about an entrepreneur that you have researched. (see teacher for an outline of how you might structure your story) 30 marks (10 bonus for reading it to the class)

 Compile a list of quotes from successful entrepreneurs 15

 Write song lyrics about a famous (or not so famous) entrepreneur. 35

 Build a mobile for the classroom displaying entrepreneurial characteristics. 30

 Bring in an entrepreneur to be interviewed by the class. 45 (teacher approval required)

 Read A Week in the Life of Donald Trump and complete the accompanying sheet illustrating his entrepreneurial characteristics. 25

 Prepare and hand out a survey amongst 20-30 students and/or teachers about running their own business and summarize your findings. (see me for question ideas) 60

 In your journal choose any entrepreneurial characteristics that you possess and write about how you have demonstrated them. 5 marks per characteristic

 In your journal write about someone you know who exhibits entrepreneurial characteristics (with details) 5 marks per person

 Prepare and present a skit which dramatizes a story about an entrepreneur or an enterprising person. (can be done in a group) 60

 Write a persuasive paragraph making a case for your choice of the Greatest Entrepreneur (current or of all time) 20

 Ask to be a classroom helper for the semester. Jobs up for grabs are: hand out person, AV technician, attendance monitor, computer assistant, teacher assistant, catch-up person, other? 20-30 marks
