KUNCANOWET TOWN FOREST AND CONSERVATION AREA MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING

MINUTES: October’s minutes were approved

OLD BUSINESS:

Signs for the Kuncanowet Town Forest and Conservation Area (KTFCA)

Ed White obtained 6 “No wheeled vehicle” signs and additional signs will cost only $2.00 each. Ed put up two near the entrance to the area.

ATV’s continue to be seen on the trails.

Maintenance of Fogg’s field

Ed White confirmed the need for an annual line item in the town’s budget to cover the mowing and brushing out of the field.

LCIP survey

Peggy Senter is working to complete the annual survey and has been in touch with Steve Walker from the Office of State Planning. She has walked some of the boundary lines as has Ron Jarvis with former committee chair, Fred Mullen.

NEW BUSINESS:

Report based on the Kuncanowet

Adam Lunsford has produced a report titled “Changes in Wetland Caused by Beaver in the Kuncanowet Forest Area”. The paper compiles information gathered from 1946 through 2003.

Annual committee report

Ed White has drafted the report and submitted it.

Information posted on Dunbarton’s web site Darlene Jarvis reported that she has had the KTFCA Management Committee membership and meeting schedule corrected on the web site.

Gelinas property

Brett St. Clair explained that the Conservation Commission recently made Mr. Gelinas an offer on his land abutting the Kuncanowet. Mr. Gelinas thought the offer was low. No further negotiations are anticipated in the near future.

New member to represent the Town Forest Committee

Jacques Belanger has been appointed to replace the late John Swindlehurst.
