INVITATION FOR BIDS NO 13-6474-2 Accessible Playground Equipment Installation and Surfacing – Year 5 at Various Schools

Sealed bids in duplicate will be received by the School Board of the City of Richmond, Virginia at the Division of Purchasing, 2nd Floor, 2907 North Boulevard, Richmond, Virginia until 2:30 p.m., local prevailing time, Thursday, March 14, 2013.

Bids will be publicly opened and read aloud at 2:30 p.m.., local prevailing time, on Friday, March 15, 2013, at the same location.

Bidding documents (plans and specifications) are available through Division of Purchasing. Bidders are advised to access RPS’ website at http://web.richmond.k12.va.us/departments/purchasing.aspx for a copy of the IFB, addenda (if any) and any additional information regarding this IFB, prior to the submission of their bid.

All Class “A” General Contractors desiring to submit a bid must attend a Mandatory Pre-Bid Meeting that has been scheduled by Richmond Public Schools for 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Division of Purchasing, 2907 North Blvd., 2 nd Floor Conference Room, Richmond, VA 23230.

Bids must be accompanied by a Bid Bond of not less that five percent (5%) of the Base Bid amount. The successful bidder will be required to provide a Performance Bond and Payment Bond equal to one hundred (100%) of the contract amount and Certificate of Insurance as required.

“The Minority Business/Participation Commitment Form” and a completed “Contractor’s Employment Profile” as included in the Specifications are to be filled out and turned in as part of the contractor’s bid.

If awarded the contract, the Contractor must submit Exhibit I (Certification of Crimes Against Children) and Exhibit II (Certification of Interests & Relationships with School Board and Richmond Public Schools Employees). . Richmond Public Schools reserves the right to waive all informalities, and be the sole judge of the evaluation process and reject any and all bids.

Richmond Public Schools reserves the right to add additional schools at any time prior to contract completion, providing work is the same as stated in the Invitation For Bid.

The Contractor certifies that it does not, and shall not during the performance of this Contract, knowingly employ an unauthorized alien as defined in the federal Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.

COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA REGISTRATION: Pursuant to Code of Virginia §2.2-4311.2 as amended, the Contractor warrants that it is authorized to transact business in the Commonwealth of Virginia if so required by Title 13.1 or Title 50 or as otherwise required by law, and agrees to maintain such authorization during the performance of this Contract. Vendor must submit appropriate documentation with their bid, if required.

A copy of RPS Standard Contract is located in the General Conditions of the Contract-Construction.
