SCT RDA Training Materials Task Group

Charge: The PCC SCT RDA Training Materials Task Group is charged to:

● Collect existing RDA training documentation from PCC and non-PCC sources

1. Materials should cover the most relevant training needs (e.g. FRBR, AACR2 vs. RDA bibliographic and authority data, etc.) and address a variety of audiences (original and copy catalogers; BIBCO and CONSER; books, visual materials, music, law, etc.) 2. Identify areas where recommendations listed under the “Training Issues” of the “PCC Policy Statement on RDA Training” ( http :// www . loc . gov / catdir / pcc / Policy - RDA - Training .html) can be addressed 3. Materials can include textual resources as well as non-textual resources (for example, ALCTS webinars, LC videos, YouTube presentations, etc.)

● Request any necessary permission from creators or stakeholders to use the collected training documentation for PCC training

● Working with the PCC Secretariat, who in turn will work with the Library of Congress’ Policy and Standards Division (PSD), review all collected RDA training documentation for accuracy and compliance with PCC policies, thereby designating a set of “PCC Approved” RDA training documentation

● Post to the PCC site and organize for easy navigability

1. Clearly state that the collected RDA training documentation will be reviewed and vetted for PCC training purposes 2. Clearly state that the collected RDA training documentation may be posted to the Cataloger’s Learning Workshop (CLW) web site ( http :// www . loc . gov / catworkshop /) and shared publicly for PCC and non-PCC use, with proper attribution

The collected, vetted, and reviewed RDA training documentation must be approved by the SCT before being posted to the CLW web site. The CLW RDA Training Documentation page will include a disclaimer indicating the posted RDA training documentation is “PCC-Approved,” but is not required PCC training documentation.

Time Frame: Delivery of charge, chair(s) and membership to Policy Committee: January 7, 2012 Date of preliminary report: April 1, 2012

Status: Provide the status of the report after each reporting period.

Chain of Reporting: The Task Group will report to the PCC Standing Committee on Training.

Appendices: RDA related task groups are required to provide two appendices to indicate whether not RDA related actions are required by the Secretariat.

Appendix A: RDA implementation dependencies appendix: RDA related task groups are asked to prepare an appendix to the final report with a timeline/calendar that: ● Outlines the steps that need to be taken for completing RDA related tasks ● Identifies who will be responsible for those tasks ● States the time frame and order in which tasks should be accomplished prior to implementation ● Lists any other dependencies that might need to be considered.

This appendix is required of all PCC RDA task groups, and all timelines/calendars will be compiled by the Secretariat to develop a comprehensive RDA implementation calendar. If no RDA related actions are identified please add a statement to the report indicating that no action is needed.

Appendix B: Revision of PCC RDA Frequently Asked Questions: Task group members are asked to be aware of the PCC RDA FAQ as they do their work and to list suggested revisions in this appendix. The Secretariat will update the PCC RDA FAQ based on this appendix. If no RDA related actions are identified please add a statement to the report indicating that no action is needed.
