UNICEF Vacancy - Fixed-term Appointment Health Officer - UCI (NO-B), based in Yangon Position No. 42086

UNICEF Myanmar is seeking to recruit a dynamic, motivated and committed professional to contribute to project design, planning, implementation and primarily responsible for monitoring, evaluation and training of Universal Child Immunization activities. Under the general supervision of the Health Specialist (UCI), the incumbent will carry out the following tasks:-

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Undertake field visits to advocate sub-national authorities and other stake holders and to monitor the proper implementation of UCI project, as well as conduct periodic project reviews with central and regional Government counterparts and other partners. Provide technical advice and assistance to Government officials and other partners in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the UCI activities;

 Identify UCI training needs of government and other counterparts at central, district and sub-district levels; assist in planning, organising and delivering training programmes for the purpose of capacity building, programme sustainability as well as promotion and advocacy;

 Coordinate with the Operations/Supply staff on supply and non-supply assistance activities ensuring proper and timely UNICEF and Government accountability;

 Assist national EPI in the implementation of supplementary EPI activities;

 Ensure the accurate and timely input of programme information in computerized programme system and the issuance of status reports for monitoring and evaluation purposes;

 Assist in the development and introduction of new approaches, methods and practices in management and evaluation of the UCI project in order to achieve high coverage nationwide.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES required to perform the duties of the post: a) Education

University degree in Social Sciences, Public Health or other relevant disciplines, preferably MBBS; MPH/MBA or equivalent would be an asset. b) Work Experience

- Two years progressively responsible work experience in Public Health programme design, administration and monitoring and evaluation or related field; - Analytical and conceptual ability; documentation and communication skills; - Planning and monitoring skills and ability to organize work and projects; - Skill in computer applications; - Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment. c) Language Proficiency Fluency in English and Myanmar is required. Working knowledge of another UN language is an asset.
