1 GENERAL

1.1 SECTION INCLUDES

1.4 SUBMITTALS

1.4.1 03 31 00-1 Submit under provisions of Section 01 30 00 - Administrative Requirements.

1.4.2 Product Data: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used, including: 1.4.2.1 Preparation instructions and recommendations. 1.4.2.2 Instructions for storage and use.

1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE

1.5.1 Manufacturer Qualifications: 1.5.1.1 Capable of producing concrete that will provide an internal relative humidity of 80 percent when evaluated with a manufacturer approved probe in accordance with ASTM F 2170, and that meets construction timelines for concrete drying. 1.5.1.2 Capable of producing concrete that provides an MVER of 5 lbs /1000 sf /24 hrs when evaluated with a manufacturer approved kit in accordance with ASTM F 1869. 1.5.1.3 Capable of submitting 28, 45 and 90 day test results for internal relative humidity and MVER.

1.5.2 Technician Qualifications: Technicians evaluating the internal relative humidity and moisture vapor emissions rate of the concrete shall be certified as follows. 1.5.2.1 International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI) Concrete Moisture Testing Technician - Grade I. 1.5.2.2 ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I.

1.6 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

1.6.1 Deliver, store and handle materials and products in strict compliance with manufacturer's instructions and recommendations.

1.6.2 Store materials within recommended limits for temperature and humidity recommended by manufacturer. Protect from damage.

1.7 PROJECT CONDITIONS

1.7.1 Field Measurements: Verify field measurements as indicated on Shop Drawings. Where measurements are not possible, provide control dimensions and templates.

1.7.2 Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's recommended limits.

1.8 SEQUENCING AND SCHEDULING

1.8.1 Sequencing and Scheduling: Mandatory preconstruction meeting. 1.8.1.1 03 31 00-2 Schedule a mandatory meeting with the manufacturer of the rapid drying concrete shall be held at least one week prior to placement to discuss materials, placing, finishing, curing and project technical services.

1.9 WARRANTY

1.9.1 Manufacturer's Warranty: Submit for the owner's acceptance manufacturer's standard limited warranty document executed by a company official of the authorized company. Manufacturer's warranty is in addition to, and not a limitation of other rights owner may have under contract documents.

2 PRODUCTS

2.1 MANUFACTURERS

2.1.2 Substitutions: Not permitted.

2.1.3 Requests for substitutions will be considered in accordance with provisions of Section 01 60 00 - Product Requirements. 2.1.3.1 PRODUCTS

2.1.4 Rapid Drying Concrete Products: ARIDUS as manufactured by US Concrete, Inc. 2.1.4.1 Application: For floors that receive moisture-sensitive coverings or adhesives. 2.1.4.2 Testing for Concrete Mixture: Until requirements specified herein are met.

2.1.5 Performance Requirements: In compliance with the following. 2.1.5.1 Fresh Concrete Performance Requirements: 2.1.5.1.1 Maximum Slump or Slump Flow: Dictated by the placement site. 2.1.5.1.2 Maximum Water to Concrete Ratio: Less than manufacturer approved limit, 0.40. 2.1.5.1.3 Concrete shall not be placed at a consistency that produces segregation. 2.1.5.1.4 Air Content: Shall be less than 3 percent for normal weight concrete that is not subject to freezing and thawing cycles during construction or in service. 2.1.5.2 Hardened Concrete Performance Requirements: 2.1.5.2.1 Compressive Strength (at 28 days): As scheduled and indicated on Drawings. 2.1.5.2.2 Compressive Strength (at 28 days): Not less than 3000 psi (20 MPa). 2.1.5.2.3 Compressive Strength (at 28 days): Not less than 4000 psi (27.5 MPa). 2.1.5.2.4 03 31 00-3 Rapid-Drying Concrete shall achieve an internal relative humidity (IRH) equal to or less than or equal to 80 percent in 45 days using ASTM F 710 procedures. 2.1.5.2.5 Rapid-Drying Concrete shall achieve a Moisture Vapor Emission Rate (MVER) equal to or less 5lb / 1000sf / 24hrs using ASTM F 710 procedures.

3 EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION AND PREPARATION

3.1.1 Verification of Conditions: Verify that field measurements, surfaces, substrates and conditions are as required, and ready to receive Work.

3.1.2 Prepare substrates using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions. 3.1.2.1 Floor Preparation: Prepare the floor in accordance with ASTM F 710; Determination of IRH per ASTM F2170 and MVER per ASTM F1869.

3.1.3 Do not proceed with installation until substrates have been properly prepared and deviations from manufacturer's recommended tolerances are corrected. Commencement of installation constitutes acceptance of conditions.

3.1.4 If preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect in writing of deviations from manufacturer's recommended installation tolerances and conditions

3.2 INSTALLATION AND TESTING

3.2.1 Installation: Comply with manufacturer's installation instructions and approved submittals and requirements of Section 03 30 00 - Cast-in-Place Concrete.

3.2.2 Testing: Record and report all results. 3.2.2.1 Shall be performed by an independent lab appointed by the owner and shall be performed by ICRI Moisture Testing Technician Grade 1. 3.2.2.2 Shall take place after allowing concrete to dry for a minimum of 45 days after building enclosure with HVAC on for 48 hrs. 3.2.2.3 Test in-situ concrete in accordance with ASTM F1869 with manufacturer approved kits as manufactured by Vaprecision, Inc. or equivalent. 3.2.2.4 Test in- situ concrete in accordance with ASTM F2170 with manufacturer approved probes, HMP4OS as manufactured by Vaisala. 3.2.2.5 Calibration of Relative Humidity Sensors: NIST traceable factory calibration Calibrated relative humidity sensors with digital display. 3.2.2.6 Moisture Vapor Emission Rate Kits: Calcium chloride must be of proper grade outlined in ASTM F1869.

3.3 CLEANING AND PROTECTION 03 31 00-4 3.3.1 Clean exposed surfaces. Touch up, refinish, or replace damaged components in a manner acceptable to Architect.

3.3.2 Protect installed products until completion of project.

3.3.3 Repair or replace defective work as directed by Architect upon inspection.
