Produce designs for one linear multimedia product. Each design must include: P3 ● documented product ideas/prototypes 2 ● a list of ready-made assets ● a test plan Prepare assets and content for the multimedia products, P4 3 Demonstrating awareness of purpose and listing sources of assets. Develop one linear multimedia product using suitable tools/techniques P5 4 to combine assets and content, demonstrating awareness of purpose. Test the multimedia product for functionality and purpose, repairing P6 5 any faults and documenting changes. Produce detailed designs for the multimedia products, including M2 7 reasons why alternative ideas have been discarded. Prepare assets and content for the multimedia products, demonstrating M3 an awareness of audience/user requirements, with all sources fully 3 referenced. Develop one linear multimedia product, demonstrating an awareness of M4 4 audience/user requirements and taking account of usability. Test any additional functionality and gather feedback from others on the M5 quality of the products and use this to improve the products, 5 demonstrating an awareness of audience/user requirements. Refine the high-quality multimedia products, taking account of feedback D3 7 from others to enhance the audience/user experience.

Assignment title TWO - Design Multimedia Product – One Linear Product Scenario: You have been approached by a customer to design a linear multimedia product for a charity.  His charity is called “The Planet First” and is concerned about raising awareness in schools about the problems with the rain forest, the melting ice caps and endangered animals.  He wishes you to create a slideshow or a movie that can be used in secondary schools.  Alternatively you can choose your own topic, use your brief to get approval from your lecturer before starting your linear multimedia product.  To achieve Merit standard your designs must be detailed.

Tasks 1. Write a brief outline of what you are going to design. Describe who your target audience is and what the purpose of the multimedia product is. (Note: You will need this for Assignment 4 also.) Your documentation to include the following: a) A brief that includes the target audience, purpose and the user requirements

2. Create a project plan and storyboard for your multimedia product (P3, & M4) Your documentation to include the following: a) Records of stimulus materials and mind maps of first ideas b) Storyboard/s, containing a number of panels, showing the intended layout, content and structure of the product c) Timelines for animations and movie clips with synchronised sound d) A hierarchy chart, to illustrate navigation, how screens are accessed e) A list of styles and formats used, e.g. mood boards for colours, fonts and images

3. Write lists of assets that you are going to need to create your multimedia product, including software, audio etc. Prepare these assets. Your documentation to include the following: a) A list of the original and ready-made digital assets you will use, e.g. animations, graphics, audio e.g. sound effects and voice or video clips (P4) b) A list of the hardware, the software and other resources you will need (P4) c) A list of the sources for your ready-made assets and details of editing should be documented and referenced (M3)

5. Produce a plan to test your multimedia product. Test your design with at least three users and document any changes you will make to the design as a result of testing. Your documentation to include the following: a) A test plans, to test functionality and user experience (P6) b) The test results all the feedback you have received for example, effectiveness, content, presentation, interaction, usability, performance and purpose (M5)

6. Make changes to your multimedia product, in response to testing and feedback from others, keep copies of the changes. Your documentation to include the following: a) Copies of the different versions of your designs (P5)

7. Produce a report outlining how you have changed your multimedia product. Your documentation to include the following: a) Show your alternative ideas, you may consider changing the characters, or plot, or even effects. Give some reasons why you have changed some of your ideas (M2) b) Show how you have revised your design for the multimedia product to improve the quality. For example show earlier and later designs (D3)
