FAYETTEVILLE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT – SEVEN EMS E.M.S. DISPATCHER

JOB DESCRIPTION 1. Receive requests for non-emergency transportation and process those requests in a timely and cost-effective manner. 2. Properly records and verifies non-emergency transportation documentation 3. Properly assigns staff to non-emergency transportation and assures adequate staff are available to meet demand 4. Assigns transports and other tasks with the authority of the EMS Chief 5. Prepares Correspondence as directed 6. Performs basic clerical duties 7. Answers phones and takes control of calls with quality customer service 8. Responds to emergency calls for assistance when necessary 9. Greets visitors and takes control of their needs 10. Maintains a high standard of excellence 11. Maintains rapport with contract facilities and other medical personnel 12. Fulfills all requirements of the EMT Job Description 13. Participates in community events/activities as requested by the EMS Chief 14. Will report to supervisors using the chain of command 15. Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. Valid Pennsylvania Emergency Medical Technician Certification 2. Valid Pennsylvania (Or other state) Driver’s License 3. Valid American Heart Association CPR for the Healthcare Provider 4. High School Diploma or GED

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS POST-HIRING 1. Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (Or Equivalent – 12 Hours or Greater) 2. NIMS 100 3. NIMS 700 4. Learning Management System – Obesity 5. Learning Management System – HIPAA Compliance 6. Learning Management System – Blood Borne Pathogens 7. Learning Management System – Sexual Harassment in the Workplace 8. Learning Management System – Violence in the Workplace 9. Learning Management System – Workplace Diversity 10. Learning Management System – High Functioning CPR (Pit Crew) 11. Hazardous Materials Awareness (Or Higher Level) 12. Continuous Positive Airway Pressure for the BLS Provider 13. ACLS for the EMT (Or equivalent ALS Assistant Training) 14. CPST Certification (Car Seat Technician)

1 PREFERRED SKILLS 1. Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word 2. Knowledge of EMS Documentation Programs; preferably emsCharts 3. Customer Service Oriented 4. Typing Skills 5. Solid Communication Skills 6. Previous experience in transportation coordination 7. Previous experience in scheduling

WORK SCHEDULE/PAYROLL/BENEFITS INFORMATION 1. The workday will typically begin at 0900 hours and continue, with a paid ½ hour lunch, until 1700 hours Monday through Friday 2. 12 Paid Holidays 3. Rate of Pay is DOQ 4. This position is not eligible for entry into the Bargaining Unit known as IAEP Local 777 5. Probation period will be 520 hours. 6. A retirement program is available after 1 year of employment for all employees who meet eligibility requirements 7. Health Care is available after 90 days of employment 8. Mandatory overtime may be necessary to maintain continuous department operations

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT 1. Must by 18 years of age at the time of application 2. Must submit to, and pass a pre-employment physical and biannual physicals 3. Must submit to, and pass a drug screening, as a condition of being hired; And randomly administered test thereafter 4. Must retain, throughout employment, valid certifications as listed above 5. Must permit a confidential background check by an authorized police agency 6. Must provide proof of all qualifications and training 7. Must permit a check of present and previous employment records 8. Must be willing to work with Volunteer EMS Providers and Firefighters

CHAIN OF COMMAND 1. EMS Dispatchers report to the shift leader. Shift Leaders report to the EMS Chief and the EMS Chief to the President of the Department 2. On matters of personnel deployment and scheduling the Office Manager, Office Assistant, and EMS Dispatcher are granted authority by the EMS Chief to maintain proper department operations
