Post title: Junior Clinical Research Analyst Programmer Academic Unit/Service: Clinical Informatics Research Unit Faculty: Medicine Career pathway: TAE Level: 3 *ERE category: n/a Posts responsible to: Head of Development, Clinical Informatics Research Unit Posts responsible for: N/A Post base: Office-based (see job hazard analysis)

Job purpose This post is part of an innovative Clinical Informatics Research team that develops and supports high quality, efficient Healthcare research management information systems and processes for the NHS, Universities and Commercial Industries. The post holder will be responsible for providing support into the development of software solutions and to provide enterprise support to specific Clinical Research Projects.

Key accountabilities/primary responsibilities % Time 1. To work with the researchers and academics on the EDGE programme, as well as end-users, 20 % to define the requirements of the software. 2. To develop different components of the software, and present them back to the head of 20 % programming or other members of the unit 3. To test the functionality of the software applications prototypes, using a combination of 20 % automated testing and manual testing. 4. To deploy the functioning software applications on servers running windows Server. 10 % 5. To maintain the applications during their lifecycle. 20 % 6. To organize and facilitate meetings with the rest of the team and with project stakeholders 10 %

7. Any other duties as allocated by the line manager following consultation with the post holder.

Internal and external relationships Direct responsibility to the head of development. Work will be carried out in close collaboration with other Analyst programmers within the Unit involved in the projects within the Clinical Informatics Research Unit and or partners as well as the NHS, NIHR EDGE Programmer partners and other parts of the University of Southampton.

Special Requirements Ability and willingness to learn new programming methods and adopt and use new technology, there may be some need for the post holder to travel within the UK or Internationally for short periods of time to meet partners.

Design skills, specifically in a web environment Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience in: Understanding of Test Driven Development  Microsoft Visual Studio and C#  SQL and Relational Database Theory  CSS, Javascript and/or jQuery  ASP.NET Planning and To manage own time and CV/Application organising actions in an organised manner that can easily be communicated to team members and management
