Research Description My research focuses on the design and synthesis of organic compounds to study fundamental questions in physics and biology, as well as to tap into alternative sources of energy. I am currently developing a family of organic donor-bridge-acceptor molecules designed to demonstrate quantum teleportation of the spin state of a stable free radical to a photo-generated radical cation. The design of these molecules is inspired by the photosynthetic reaction centers; photosystem I and II.

During the course of this project, we are studying the fundamentals of electron transfer in solution and solid state using a combination of femtosecond (fs) and nanosecond (ns) transient absorption (TA) and magnetic resonance (EPR and MFE) spectroscopes. Preliminary data from my current project are forming the basis for the design of new molecular systems to capture and store solar irradiation in the form of hydrogen.
