Long before the Bulova Watch Company would become famous the world over, long before there was a Bulova Observatory on top of a Fifth Avenue skyscraper, the company existed as a small jewelry store on Maiden Lane in New York City, owned and operated by Joseph Bulova. A young shop assistant named John Ballard convinced Joseph to start selling watches directly to other retailers, leading to the establishment of watch factories in Switzerland and the U.S.A. The rest of course is watch history, with Bulova being one of the most recognized names in the field.
I am pleased to present a very handsome and harder to find vintage men’s timepiece from the Bulova firm, the American made Corrigan model that dates to 1938. I have always called this the “Mayan Temple” model based on its case design, like ancient Egypt, very Art Deco.
Triple-signed, it measures 37.3mm end to end and 25.3mm in width (27.3mm with crown). This works out to be just shy of 1-1/2 inches long by 1 inch in width, not including the crown. My Bulova-trained watchmaker David has fully serviced its original 17 jewel, manual wind 10AE caliber USA made mechanism to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The ivory colored, matte enamel finished dial is in excellent condition and has been professionally restored to its correct status. It features a 60 minute outer track border, raised gold numerals, original gold metal Spade- style hands and a recessed sub-seconds dial with 5 second markers and gold seconds hand. It is signed BULOVA in raised gold lettering below the 12.
The solid glass, curved crystal is in mint condition, removed in some photos to avoid glare. The 10kt Rolled Yellow Gold Plated case is a real beauty. The top (bezel) portion is triple stepped at the top and bottom and also stepped at the corners too. The bezel is in excellent condition with just a few small scratches, no brassing or wear. The winding crown (unmarked) is a matching gold finish and in excellent shape, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid is in very good overall shape with no personal engravings, just a bit of brassing (rub to the gold finish) along a few edges. It is stamped B for Bulova and 10K Rolled Gold Plate. The case number is #8,672,341. Inside is a clean, fully serviced American made Bulova mechanism, signed Bulova Watch Co., USA, 17 Jewels Adjusted, [Caliber] 10AE. There is also a Crescent Moon date code indicating a 1938 production date. The inside of the case lid is signed Bulova Fifth Avenue New York.
This Corrigan model watch has been fully serviced by a Bulova- trained watchmaker to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new and high quality black deBeer Europa 15mm alligator (grain) calf leather strap with matching gold color buckle. All in all a beautifully designed, harder to find Art Deco Bulova model in great condition and ready to show off.

- Watch sizes: I provide exact case measurements in millimeters (the watch industry standard) and inches, and include a U.S. quarter in one photo as a size reference. Draw the measurements on paper to help visualize the watch on your wrist. Remember, watches for men made from the 1910s to 1970s were noticeably smaller than what is considered normal today.
- Buyers outside the United States with less than five feedback: please take a moment to introduce yourself via the eBay message system prior to bidding. Otherwise, your bid may be retracted.
- U.S. winners pay $7.75 for fully insured, safely boxed USPS First-Class Mail shipping. Washington State residents (and those with shipping addresses in Washington State) are required to pay 8.6% sales tax.
- Canadian bidders pay $22.00 for Registered Air Mail shipping with tracking (I pay the insurance) or $36 for EMS Global Express, about 5 days faster. International buyers pay $49.00 (actual cost) for EMS Global Express Mail with tracking and insurance, the insurance part covered by me.
- International buyers, please note: Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding. I ship within 24 hours of receiving your cleared payment but your local custom authorities can cause delays. Expect it to take 7 to 30 days for international delivery.
- Payment is due within three days of auction end, unless you have contacted me prior to arrange otherwise. In accordance with eBay policy, payments not received in four days will initiate an unpaid item case through the Resolution Center.

Among watch collectors, the Omega Watch Co. of Switzerland, a firm founded by Louis Brandt of Biel in 1848, is one of the most renowned brands of timepieces. In 1894 a new caliber bore the name of Omega for the first time, and since then it has produced some of the finest caliber wristwatches money can buy. Omega is my favorite Swiss watch firm as well, combining those qualities of name brand recognition, high quality and relative value that are important to the seasoned watch collector.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following men's Omega timepiece, an all original (including the stainless mesh bracelet), 24 jewel automatic wind DE VILLE model from ca 1972. This is a “dress” model watch, as noted by the absence of a seconds hand (sweep or sub- seconds) and its slim, elegant profile, just 6.7mm thick including the crystal. Did you see the original sky blue dial linen dial? It boasts fine vertical engraving that my photos fail to do justice to.
Quintuple-signed for Omega (dial, crown, case, mechanism and band), it measures 38.5mm lug tip to lug tip and 36mm in width (37mm with original Omega-signed partially recessed crown). This works out to be 1-1/2 inches long by just over 1-3/8 inches wide, not counting the crown. Attached to the watch is its original Omega stainless steel mesh bracelet, in excellent shape and able to fit ANY SIZE wrist up to 8-1/8 inches in size, thanks to its fully adjustable clasp. It has been fully serviced and its original 24 jewel, 2 adjustment Slimline 711 caliber Omega rotor automatic mechanism winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original sky blue, enamel finished linen dial is in flawless condition, guaranteed untouched and so much nicer in person than my photos can show. Features include a 60 minute outer track border, applied silver and white hour markers and original white lacquer finish Baton-style hands. Signed OMEGA AUTOMATIC with trademark Omega symbol below the 12 and DE VILLE above the 6. It is further signed SWISS MADE at the base of the dial.
The original solid glass (flat) crystal is in excellent condition. The original Omega-signed case is a three-piece solid stainless steel example in excellent condition, it has never been polished that I can see.
The original Omega-signed steel winding crown is in excellent shape, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I find that the snap down back lid is stainless steel and in excellent condition, retaining its original brushed, satin finish and with no wear or engravings whatsoever. Inside I find a clean, original rose gold finished Slimline Caliber 711 rotor automatic mechanism, one of the last made IN HOUSE by Omega and often found in late 1960s Constellation models, a legendary calibre. It is signed Omega Watch Co., Swiss [Caliber] 711, Adjusted Two (2) Positions, Twenty Four (24) Jewels. The serial number is #35,887,512, dating the watch to ca 1972 as per Omega production records. The inside of the case back is signed ACIER INOXYDABLE, OMEGA WATCH CO., FAB. SUISSE, SWISS MADE, 1510039 C.B.
This watch has been fully serviced so you can be assured that it winds and sets smoothly while keeping very accurate time. It comes fitted on its original Omega-signed 18mm stainless steel mesh bracelet in excellent shape, signed Omega on the outer clasp and Omega Stainless Steel 2038 on the underside. It will fit a wrist ANY SIZE up to 8-1/8 inches in size. Whether it be a Seamaster, DeVille or Constellation all watch lovers need to have at least one Omega in his or her collection. How about this elegant, all original and high grade 24 jewel model? I have never seen one quite like it before.

Not until the First World War would the wristwatch be considered an everyday necessity for the gentleman, although their use by troops is noted during the Boer War, albeit limited. Prior to the Great War, watches were considered women’s jewelry and too ladylike for the discerning man.
WWI would change this, putting the watch on the wrists of soldiers fighting in the trenches of Europe, this event having repercussions once the soldier returned home.
As one 1919 advertisement promoting wristwatches for gentlemen states, such devices were manly watches for manly men – any man so out of date as to consider the wristwatch effeminate need only learn the kind of men who use them…the fighting men, the soldiers in the World War, the military and naval men the world over, the big game hunters, the aviators, motorists, yachtsmen. By the end of the 1920s, wristwatch production would surpass pocket watch output at most U.S. factories and Swiss factories, a trend that became more pronounced over time.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following military watch, a Khaki Waltham Depollier model dating to ca 1915. Its wire lug, three-piece case is crafted of Solid Sterling Silver and was made by Jacques Depollier & Son , a prominent case maker and watch firm in the early 20th century.
Depollier was founded by its namesake in 1877 (in Brooklyn, NY) and made cases under the Dubois name as well. They are best known for their unique cases for WWI period military and sportsman watches, including one of the very first waterproof watches, a good ten years before Rolex. It was also a Depollier cased Waltham that was on the wrist of pilot Roland Rohlfs when, in 1919, he broke the world record by flying to an altitude of 34,610 feet in a Curtiss L-3 triplane.
As with all Depollier watches this timepiece features a robust Waltham mechanism. One of its key selling points of this KHAKI and similar sterling silver models (like the D&D Utility) was itsunbreakable glass that will not loosen or fall out. In fact, one of the earliest uses of a heavy duty plastic crystal on a watch, this Depollier never had a glass crystal.
This watch measures 38mm from lug end to lug end and 32mm in width (35mm with winding crown). This works out to be 1-1/2 inches long by 1-1/4 inches wide, not counting the crown. My watchmaker David has fully serviced its 3/0 size, finely damasked 15 jewel, Waltham USA mechanism and it runs very well and keeps accurate time.
This original white porcelain enamel dial is in excellent PLUS condition with no chips or damage. It features a black 60 minute outer track border, Arabic style numbers, original Skeleton blue steel hands and a recessed sub- seconds dial with 60 second chapter and sweeping seconds hand. Signed WALTHAM below the 12. Please note that the hands and numbers have been repainted with safe, non toxic enamel material, it is NOT radium.
The new hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent condition. Again, this model originally came with an acrylic (early plastic) crystal and NOT glass. The three-piece Sterling Silver case is in excellent condition, complete with solid wire lugs that are solid and secure.
The silver steel winding crown, a later replacement, is in excellent condition, winding and setting smoothly. This watch utilizes a stem sleeve, keeping the stem/crown in place even when the mechanism is removed from the case. As such you need to press IN slightly when winding, typical for a watch of this set up.
Turning the watch over I find that the back lid is in excellent condition with no wear or engravings. Peeking inside I find a clean 2/3 bridge, fifteen jewel mechanism with fancy damaskeening on the top plates. It is signed Waltham, USA, 15 Jewels with serial number #19,732,936, dating it to ca 1915 as per production records. The inside case lid is clearly stamped J. DEPOLLIER & SON, STERLING 432,966.
This timepiece has just been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure that it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It comes complete with a new 14mm dark brown men’s length oil leather strap with fold-over ends especially designed for solid wire lug watches such as this. It is actually a Bund (Kitchener) style band, and the winner will receive the center leather pad, in case they want to wear it like that. All in all a excellent, early military watch from two of the finest in the watch industry.

Founded by Ernest Francillon and Auguste Agassiz in the year 1832, the Longines Watch Co. of Switzerland was established in the Long Meadows (translated as Longines) near the town of St. Imier. Winner of countless horology awards, their vintage wristwatches are among the best in the world, on par with the major players of the Swiss watch making profession including its chief rival Omega.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage Longines timepiece, a truly ORIGINAL men’s peaked and faceted case, faceted crystal President Roosevelt model that dates to 1950. This watch is 14kt Solid Yellow Gold and in excellent condition inside and out, completely original including its matching faceted crystal, original hinged brass Display Box, 32 page Instruction & Guarantee Booklet and a “How to Treat Your Watch for Best Service” original foldout brochure that is still in its original cellophane wrapper, never opened!
Triple-signed, it measures 37.5mm lug tip to lug tip and 22.5mm in width (24.5mm with winding crown). This works out to be just shy of 1-1/2 inches long by 7/8 of an inch wide, not including the crown. It is powered by its original 17 jewel, 9L caliber manual wind Longines mechanism that has been fully serviced to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original two-tone silver, enamel finish Quadrant Dial is in excellent shape, a couple specks of age but guaranteed untouched since it left the factory 63 years ago. Quadrant dials are best seen in person to be appreciated as the two-tone effect changes in the light.
It features applied gold hour markers, original gold metal Dauphine-style hands and a recessed, rectangular seconds dial with 60 second outer track and sweep gold seconds hand. Signed LONGINES below the 12 with trademark winged hourglass gold emblem and SWISS at the base of the dial. Again, this dial has never been refinished or cleaned since it left the Longines factory.
The 100% original gently curved, faceted acrylic crystal is in excellent condition, its faceting matching the facets of the case where it rises at the 12, 3, 6 and 9 positions. The case is a two-piece design that is 14 Karat Solid Yellow Gold and it is in excellent PLUS condition, it is quite obvious that this watch was rarely worn, probably for a couple years at most. The unmarked, gold finished winding crown is in excellent order as well, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I find that the back lid is in excellent to mint shape, stamped 14K GOLD at one edge. This back lid has never been engraved or polished and it retains its original brush, satin finish that it left the factory with. Taking a look inside I find a fully serviced manual wind mechanism, signed Longines Watch Co., Swiss, Seventeen 17 Jewels [Grade] 9L, LXW with serial number 8,089,224, dating it to ca 1950 as per production records. The inside case is stamped Longines Wittnauer Watch Co. Inc., New York, Geneva, Montreal, 14K Gold with case number below. The case maker stamp is for the Keystone Watch Case Company.
This President Roosevelt model Longines has been fully disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. Comes fitted with a 18mm black leather strap with matching color buckle. This watch will ship in its original brass display case in great shape and with its original 32 page Instruction Booklet and Service advice brochure, as shown. The President Roosevelt is a scarcer model so finding one in excellent, original condition is really nice!

I have always enjoyed collecting watches from Bulova, an American company of great repute. It was founded in the 1870s by the Czech immigrant Joseph Bulova and based in New York City, where the famous Bulova Observatory was located, high above a skyscraper on Fifth Avenue.
Like Gruen, it also had a factory in (Bienne) Switzerland, established in 1912 and dedicated to the production of watch components and their assembly into jeweled movements. The firm is known for its aggressive advertising campaigns and for being the first to advertise on radio, the announcer stating B U L O V A … 8:00p.m., Bulova Watch Time.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following men’s timepiece from the Bulova firm, a 100% original, finely engraved dial DATE KING (Model 2523) automatic wind model that dates to 1969 and has probably been worn for just a few months in its entire existence. This watch comes complete with its original expansion bracelet (shown attached to the watch in one of the photos and dated ‘68) and original hinged blue display box, as shown..
Triple- signed for Bulova it measures 39mm end to end and 33mm in width (35mm with original, unmarked gold winding crown). This works out to be just over 1-1/2 inches long by just over 1-1/4 inches wide, not including the original crown. It is powered by its original 17 jewel, self winding Bulova Swiss mechanism that has been fully serviced prior to auction, ensuring it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original silver, champagne color (light gold) enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, guaranteed untouched since it left the factory 44 years ago. If you look closely you will see that the dial has a radiating sunburst design, finely engraved. This quadrant, cross hair design dial is in FLAWLESS shape and nicer than my photos convey.
It features a 60 second outer track border, raised gold hour markers with tiny tritium dots, a semi-quickset date window at the 3 position, original gold metal Dauphine-style hands with tritium (luminous) fill and a sweep original gold seconds hand. Signed BULOVA below the 12 marker in raised gold lettering and AUTOMATIC above the 6 marker. It is further signed T SWISS T at the base of the dial, the T standing for tritium, the luminous compound that succeeded radium in watches. of the dial.
The original hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent, clear condition. The two-piece case with separate screw-down back ring features a 10kt Yellow Rolled Gold Plated bezel with a stainless steel back lid. It is in excellent to MINT condition, truly spotless. The original and matching yellow gold finished crown is unmarked (as most late 1960s Bulova models were) and in perfect shape, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the stainless steel back lid features a separate stainless screw-down ring. In excellent to mint condition, it is stamped Self-Winding, Bulova M9, 10K RGP Bezel, Stainless Steel Back, Shock Resistant, Anti-Magnetic with case number G271259. The date code M9 stands for 1969. Inside is a yellow gold finished, Seventeen Jewel, rotor automatic movement that has the letter B (for Bulova) incorporated into the design of the rotor, a very nice detail. It is signed Bulova Watch Co., [Caliber] 11BLACD, Seventeen 17 Jewels, Swiss BXW, M9. The model number 2523 is stamped on the inside of the case back.
This watch has been disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new 17mm black deBeer handcrafted lizard grain leather strap with gold finished buckle. This watch also comes with its original Speidel USA gold finished expansion band stamped 68 on the last links of the underside, indicating a 1968 production date, in keeping with a 1969 Bulova watch. And do not forget the original blue and gold display case, a hinged back example signed Bulova inside and out and in excellent condition. The inside is signed Bulova DATE King Calendar Dial, Self Winding, WaterproofThis is one watch where seeing it in person certainly trumps trying to show it via photographs on eBay, it is really that nice and original.

Founded by Ariste Calame in the City of Le Locle in 1882, the Zodiac Watch Co. of Switzerland has long been a sought-after watch amongst collectors, especially those who appreciate vintage sport and diving watches. The Zodiac name was used very early on but was not registered until 1908.
The firm exhibited at the Basle Watch Show in 1949 with the Datagraphic, a calendar watch with moon phases and the Autographic, a self-winding model with visible power reserve indicator that was the official watch of the Swiss Federal Railways. By the late 1950s the Sea Wolf divers watch and Rotographic rotor automatic models would be introduced.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following men’s watch from the firm, a store display SPEED DRAGON divers model in excellent, all original shape. This watch is the sister model to the Sea Dragon comes complete with its Zodiac-signed black rubber strap with matching stainless steel Zodiac-signed buckle.
I cannot think of another all Swiss made dive watch that gives you more bang for your buck, the fit and finish is excellent, the smallest dial details very crisp, just like a comparable Tag Heuer. Being rated to 100 meters (330 feet) also means you can get this one wet, in the ocean, in the pool, you name it.
Quadruple-signed for Zodiac, its solid stainless steel case measures 46mm lug tip to lug tip, 12.2mm thick and 41.5mm in width (42.5mm with Zodiac-signed crown). This is a good size, large enough to have presence on your wrist but not too large where it feels like the watch is wearing you! I have a smaller size men’s wrist and find this size is perfect, any larger would be too much. It is powered by its original Zodiac precision Swiss quartz mechanism that keeps very accurate time.
The white, pearl finish dial is in mint condition, complete with a 60 second outer chapter (calibrated to 1/5 of a second), luminous silver hour markers, a quick change double date window at the 6 position, original silver steel luminous hands and silver steel center seconds hand. Signed ZODIAC 1882 below the company symbol and SWISS at the base of the dial.
The hardened mineral crystal is in excellent, clear shape. The unidirectional timing bezel ratchets over nice and snugly. The two-piece case is a solid stainless steel example of good weight with polished finish. It is in pristine condition with no flaws. The setting crown (used for dates as well) features the Zodiac emblem and is excellent like the rest of the watch.
Turning the watch over you will see that the stainless, screw-down back lid is finely executed with an engraved Speed Dragon center. It is signed < b>ZODIAC SPEED DRAGON, 100 METERS 330 FEET, SWISS MADE, ZS5545 with serial number 10078. Inside is a precision Swiss quartz mechanism inside that keeps spot-on, accurate time.
This timepiece comes with its original 20mm matching black rubber divers style strap signed Zodiac on the underside and also on the steel buckle. An old store stock, display mode, it does NOT come with any box or papers, just the watch as you see it. A finely executed, heavy duty watch that is perfect for work, travel, the ocean, where you want a high quality Swiss watch but do not want to spend a lot of money in the process.

Founded by Ernest Francillon and Auguste Agassiz in the year 1832, the Longines Watch Co. of Switzerland was established in the Long Meadows (translated: Longines) near the town of St. Imier. Winner of countless horology awards, their wristwatches are among the best in the world, on par with the “big boys” of the Swiss watch making profession including its chief rival Omega.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage Longines timepiece, a men’s Bullet Lug, Tank-form model that dates to ca 1940 - 1941. This 10kt ROSE Gold filled watch is in excellent to mint ORIGINAL condition, completely original except for the new and high quality deBeer Europa alligator grain band.
Triple- signed, it measures 36mm lug tip to lug tip and 20.5mm in width (22mm with original rose gold winding crown). This works out to be a bit over 1-3/8 inches long by 7/8 of an inch wide, including the crown. It is powered by its original 17 jewel, 9L caliber manual wind Longines mechanism that has been fully serviced prior to auction, ensuring it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original pink (rose) gold finish, enamel dial is in flawless condition, guaranteed untouched since it left the Longines factory on this very watch. It is perfect. Features a 60 minute outer chapter, raised gold Exploding numerals and hour markers, original gold metal Baton-style hands and a recessed, square, sub-seconds dial with 60 second outer track and sweep original gold seconds hand. Signed LONGINES below the 12 and SWISS at the base of the dial.
The original solid glass crystal is in mint condition. The case is a two-piece design that is 10 Karat Rose Gold filled and in excellent to mint condition, absolutely pristine. What really makes this model is its lugs, more like Bullets and very Art Moderne in design. The original, unmarked, rose gold finished winding crown is in excellent shape, operating smoothly.
Turning the watch over I find that the rose gold back lid is free of any engravings or wear (past or present) and is in excellent PLUS shape, stamped 10k Gold Filled. Inside is a clean, fully serviced manual wind mechanism, signed Longines Watch Co., Swiss, Seventeen 17 Jewels [Grade] 9L, LXW with serial number 6,098,067, dating the watch to ca 1940 – 1941 as per available production records. The inside case is stamped Cased & Timed in the USA by Longines, Wadsworth, 10K Gold Filled with case number below.
This fine watch has been cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. Comes fitted with a new 15mm men’s length deBeer Europa brown alligator (grain) calf leather band so you are all set. All in all a pristine ORIGINAL shape vintage Tank model watch from one of Switzerland’s very best, one of the nicest Longines watches I have come across in the past year or more.

Among watch collectors, the Omega Watch Co. of Switzerland is one of the most renowned brands of timepieces. Founded by Louis Brandt of Biel in 1848, this cutting edge company has produced some of the finest caliber wristwatches money can buy. Omega is my favorite Swiss watch firm, on par with the finest Swiss firms in terms of both quality and style.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage men’s timepiece from the firm, a less often seen Tank form model in solid stainless steel that dates to ca 1945 -1946. This example was made entirely in Switzerland and is quadruple-signed for Omega, on the dial, case, winding crown and mechanism.
It measures 34mm lug tip to lug tip and 22mm in width (23.8mm with original Omega steel crown). This works out to be 1-3/8 inches in length by 7/8 of an inch wide, without the Omega signed winding crown. It has been fully serviced by my trusted watchmaker David and its original 17 jewel, manual wind mechanism winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The silver, enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, professionally restored to its correct status. It features a 60 minute outer track border, black Arabic numerals, original blue steel Baton-style hands and a separate (and slightly recessed) seconds dial with sweeping original blue steel seconds hand. Signed OMEGA below the 12 with Omega symbol and SWITZERLAND at the base of the dial.
The gently raised and curved acrylic crystal is in mint condition, a new addition. The Omega-signed two-piece case is solid stainless steel and in excellent to mint condition, truly pristine in all respects. The original winding crown is complete with Omega symbol and in excellent condition, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I note that the back lid is in excellent PLUS condition like the bezel, truly spotless with no wear or engravings. Inside I find a clean and fully serviced manual wind mechanism signed OMEGA WATCH CO., SWISS, SEVENTEEN 17 JEWELS, OXG. The serial number is #10,696,922, dating this watch to ca 1945 – 1946 as per published Omega serial number records. The inside of the original back lid is finely engine turned and stamped ACIER STAYBRITE, OMEGA, FAB. SUISSE, SWISS MADE with case number below.
Fully cleaned, oiled and regulated prior to auction, this Omegawinds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new 18mm black deBeer Paris lizard (grain) calf leather strap with matching steel buckle. Omega made very few rectangular and square form watches as compared to Longines, Hamilton, Gruen, etc. with the majority being in round cases. This excellent stainless steel example should be a welcome addition given its wrist appeal and relative scarcity. I like this one a lot!

In its glory years from the 1920s through the 1940s, the Gruen Watch Company of USA & Switzerland was one of the leaders in wristwatch design and quality, even collaborating with Rolex (i.e., the Aegler movement duo-dial doctors watch) from its factories in Switzerland.
Prior to WWII, Gruen was better known in the USA than Rolex, which at that time was concentrating on the British and Commonwealth countries (hence lots of early Rolexes coming out of Australia and the UK). Hans Wilsdorf and Gruen were friends and neighbors in Switzerland (their factories were just yards away), and even agreed to market their watches as Rolex Gruen in Europe, but the Great Depression (and more urgent matters) prevented this.
I am pleased to offer for sale one of the earlier strap watches for men, a Strap Model 44 Gruen Guild model with a higher grade Caliber 707 mechanism. This example is in excellent original condition, its untouched original dial a beautiful parchment paper pigment and with strong vintage appeal.
Its 14kt White Gold filled, octagonal case measures 38mm end to end by 30.5mm in width (33mm with original crown). This works out to be 1-1/2 inches long by 1-1/4 inches wide, including the winding crown. My watchmaker David has fully serviced its 15 jewel, Gruen Guild mechanism to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The 100% original enamel finish, ivory color dial is in great condition, a wonderful parchment paper look that is even nicer in person, the perfect looking vintage watch dial given its character and charm. It features a 60 minute outer track border, Arabic numbers, blue steel Skeleton hands and a separate octagonal shaped seconds dial with 60 second track and sweeping blue steel seconds hand. Signed GRUEN below the 12.
The solid glass crystal is in flawless shape. The three-piece case is 14 Karat White Gold Filled and Octagon shaped. It is in excellent PLUS condition with absolutely NO wear whatsoever. The winding crown is in great shape, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the back lid shows a couple pinprick marks but there is absolutely no wear or engravings, in excellent overall shape. Peeking inside I find a clean, higher-grade Gruen Guild series movement with nicely finished top plates. It is signed GRUEN GUILD, FIFTEEN 15 JEWELS, TWO 2 ADJ., SWITZERLAND with a low serial number 101035. Just below the balance wheel it is stamped 707, the mechanism caliber. The inside case lid is signed WADSWORTH QUALITY, 14 KARAT GOLD FILLED with case number below.
This Strap Model 44 timepiece has been completely disassembled, cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. It is fitted on a new 16mm black deBeer Paris lizard (grain) handcrafted leather strap with matching color buckle. A real find for an Art Deco or Gruen watch collector as these nice original dial examples are very hard to find nowadays.

Founded by Ernest Francillon and Auguste Agassiz in the year 1832, the Longines Watch Co. of Switzerland was established in the Long Meadows (translated: Longines) near the town of St. Imier. Winner of countless horology awards, its pre 1970s wristwatches are among the best in the world, on par with the major players of the Swiss watch making profession including its chief rival Omega.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following vintage Longines timepiece, a men’s 14kt Solid Yellow Gold, curved lug model (2308- P) that dates to 1958. This watch is in immaculate condition, complete with a spotless silver, enamel finish dial and Longines-signed crown.
Quadruple-signed, it measures 39mm lug tip to lug tip and 33mm in width (34mm with original Longines-signed, recessed gold crown). This works out to be just over 1-1/2 inches long by just over 1-1/4 inches in width, not counting the Longines stamped crown. It is powered by its original 17 jewel, 23Z caliber manual wind Longines mechanism that has been fully serviced by my valued watchmaker David just last week. As such, it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The silver enamel finished dial is in flawless condition, the original example that has been professionally restored to its correct, original status. It features a 60 minute gold incised DOT inner track border, applied solid yellow gold Arabic numerals, original gold metal Dauphine- style hands with luminous fill and a recessed, round seconds dial with sweep original gold metal seconds hand. Signed LONGINES below the 12 with applied gold company emblem and SWISS at the base of the dial.
The hardened acrylic crystal is in excellent with no flaws. The case is a two-piece design that is 14 Karat Solid Yellow Gold and it is in excellent PLUS condition, complete with curved lugs. My photos do not do it justice. The original winding crown shows the Longines emblem (winged hourglass) and is in excellent shape, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I find that the 14k solid gold screw-down back lid is in excellent to mint condition like the rest of the case. It is stamped 14 KARAT GOLD along one edge. This was a presentation watch and it is signed With Affection from your Friends at Irving Trust Company, Nolan Harrigan, February 25, 1959. Looking inside I find a clean and fully serviced manual wind mechanism, signed Longines Watch Co., Swiss, Seventeen 17 Jewels [Grade] 23Z, LXW. Its serial number of #10,606,422 dates the watch to 1958, making an early 1959 presentation date correct. The inside case is stamped LONGINES WITTNAUER WATCH CO. INC., NEW YORK, GENEVA, MONTREAL, STAR W.C. CO., 14 KARAT GOLD [Model] 2308-P with case number below.
This fine watch has been cleaned, oiled and regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. Comes fitted with a 17mm black lizard (grain) calf leather band with matching gold color buckle. All in all an excellent, ready to wear timepiece from one of Switzerland’s very best. This is not just a beautiful dress watch but also a great investment as they are not making solid gold, Swiss made mechanical marvels like this anymore. That is, of course, you have $10,000 and up to spend for a new solid gold, Swiss timepiece!

In its glory years from the 1920s through the 1940s, the Gruen Watch Company of USA & Switzerland was one of the leaders in wristwatch design and quality, even collaborating with Rolex (i.e., the Aegler Co. movement duo-dial doctor’s watch) from its factories in Switzerland. Hans Wilsdorf and Gruen were friends and neighbors in Switzerland (their factories were just yards away), and even agreed to market their watches as Rolex Gruen in Europe, but the Great Depression (and more pressing concerns) prevented this.
I am pleased to offer for sale the following timepiece from the Gruen firm, a men’s Curvex PORTRAIT model that dates to the early 1940s. The 440 caliber Curvex Portrait is known for its unique rope design bezel and lugs and this one is in excellent condition, complete with its 100% original two-color Gruen Curvex display box in great condition.
Quadruple-signed (dial, winding crown, case and mechanism), it measures 39mm lug tip to lug tip and 23mm in width (25.5mm with Gruen-signed winding crown). It is powered by a proven 440 Caliber Curvex mechanism that has been fully serviced by my watchmaker David to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.
The ivory color, enamel finished dial is in excellent condition, the original that has been professionally restored (re-enameled) to its correct status. Features include a 60 minute outer track border, raised gold Breguet-style numbers, original gold metal Leaf style hands and a sub-seconds dial with 60 second outer chapter, recessed center and sweep seconds hand. Signed GRUEN CURVEX below the 12 and PRECISION above the seconds dial. It is further stamped SWITZERLAND at the base.
The quadrant style acrylic crystal is curved on all four sides and is in excellent condition, removed in some photos to avoid glare. The 10 Karat Yellow Gold Filled case is in excellent PLUS condition with absolutely no wear. The original Gruen-signed yellow gold winding crown is in excellent condition, winding and setting smoothly.
Turning the watch over I see that the curved back lid is stamped 10K Gold Filled and in excellent PLUS shape with absolutely no wear or engravings. Inside I find a barrel-shaped curved movement signed GRUEN WATCH CO., SEVENTEEN 17 JEWELS, CURVEX PRECISION PAT., SWITZERLAND, 6160, GXC. The inside of the case is signed Cased and Timed in USA by Gruen Watch Co., Wadsworth, 10K Gold Filled, 440/498 with case reference number above this. Please note the 440 caliber number also stamped on the case, while the 498 is the dial model number.
This 1940s Curvex Portrait has been cleaned, oiled & regulated to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time. Comes fitted with a new 16mm matte black Hirsch Marcco leather strap with matching gold color buckle. This watch will ship in its original maroon and ivory color Bakelite display case, signed Gruen Curvex on the outer lid and inside on the satin lining too. So have I tempted anyone to bid on this watch yet? My photos do not do this harder to find Curvex justice.

I am pleased to offer for sale the following ladies watch from the firm, a new old stock (old store stock) SEA WOLF PROFESSIONAL divers model in pristine, all original shape. This sapphire crystal, 200 meter rated Swiss made watch comes complete with its Zodiac-signed strap with matching brushed steel Zodiac-signed buckle, even the protective sticker remains on the back lid.
I cannot think of another all Swiss made dive watch that gives you more bang for your buck, the fit and finish is excellent, the smallest dial details very crisp, just like a comparable Tag Heuer Professional or F1. Being rated to 200 meters (660 feet) also means you can get this one very wet, in the ocean, in the pool, on the deepest scuba dives!
Quintuple-signed for Zodiac, its solid stainless steel case measures 34mm lug tip to lug tip and 30mm in width (32.7mm with Zodiac-signed, screw down crown). This is a good size, working out to be 1-3/8 inches long by 1-3/16 inches wide, not including the threaded, screw down Zodiac crown. It is powered by its original Zodiac precision Swiss quartz mechanism that has had a new battery installed and keeps precision accurate time.
The charcoal grey, enamel finished dial is in pristine shape, featuring a 60 second outer chapter, luminous hour markers, a quick change date window at the 3 position, original silver steel luminous hands and a silver steel center seconds hand with luminous ball tip. Signed ZODIAC below the company symbol and Sea Wolf Professional 200 Meters above the 6 marker. It is further signed T SWISS MADE T at the base of the dial.
The genuine sapphire crystal is in mint condition, the best that you can get. The unidirectional timing bezel ratchets over nice and snugly. The two-piece case is a solid stainless steel of good weight, in immaculate shape. The screw-down (water-tight) crown features the Zodiac emblem and is perfect like the rest of the watch, operating perfectly, including its date changing function.
Turning the watch over you will see that the stainless, screw-down back lid is finely executed with an engraved Zodiac symbol in the center. It is stamped ZODIAC, SWISS SINCE 1882, 508.50.40, WATER RESISTANT 200M TESTED, STAINLESS STEEL, SWISS MADE, SAPPHIRE CRYSTAL. Inside is a precision Swiss quartz mechanism inside that keeps spot-on, accurate time.
This timepiece comes with its original 14mm black calf leather strap signed Zodiac on the underside and also on the brushed steel buckle. It does NOT come with any box or papers, just the watch as you see it. A finely executed, heavy duty watch that is perfect for work, travel, the ocean, where you want a high quality Swiss watch but do not want to spend a huge sum in the process.
- Since 1998, Holben's Fine Watches' goal has been happy customers. I treat buyers as I like to be treated: with courtesy and respect. I am especially proud of my excellent feedback and high number of repeat clients.
- U.S. winners pay $6.75 for fully insured, safely boxed USPS First-Class Mail shipping. Washington State residents (and those with shipping addresses in Washington State) are required to pay 8.6% sales tax.
- Canadian bidders pay $11.00 for Air Mail shipping with door to door tracking. International buyers pay $25 for Registered Air Mail shipping with tracking.
- In the rare event that a watch needs further service upon receipt, I ask that you return the wristwatch to me (or mailed to my watchmaker, David, in NYC) at my expense. It will be corrected and quickly mailed back to you.
- If you like unique and collectible vintage or antique wristwatches, add me as one of your favorite sellers. I specialize in American and Swiss timepieces from the 1900s to the 1970s. My selection changes weekly, and is comprised of manual wind and automatic watches from the following categories: WWI trench; WWII; military; fancy case, art nouveau; art deco; mid-century modern; stainless steel; sterling silver; white, yellow and rose gold; solid gold; platinum; and diamond, ruby and/or sapphire ladies cocktail watches.
