Title: Program Manager – Environmentally Preferred Purchasing

Location: Irving, TX

Summary: This position will report to the Associate VP for Strategic Programs and Contracts Services supporting the Sourcing Operations Organization. The ideal person will Provide strategic development, leadership and oversight of Vizient’s Environmentally Preferred Purchasing Program.

Responsibilities:  Serve as the subject matter expert of EPP and sustainable practices in the healthcare industry, spearheading Vizient’s presence at industry events.  Manage the industry advocacy group relationships, assisting members in implementation of sustainability programs using Vizient resources and tools and serving as spokesperson related to EPP.  Educate and train staff, members and suppliers on importance of EPP and sustainability in healthcare.  Provide oversight and management of EPP data collection and sharing with members; ensure EPP attributes are collected from bidding suppliers; using Vizient technology resources, ensure data is visible and accessible to members in a usable manner; manage MindClick relationship.  Responsible for managing Vizient’s national Environmental Advisory Council, made up of the country’s leading acute care healthcare organizations.  Facilitates monthly meetings and recruit members to serve on Council.  Implement and track EPP annual goals as defined by EAC  Provide EPP product criteria as part of Vizient’s public bid and contracting process, providing strategic direction and requirements to portfolio executives and bid team.  Manage contracting roadmap for EPP and green products, working with contracting teams/portfolio executives to negotiate the best price on green products during contract bid.  Create comprehensive product cross references for conventional (brown) products to EPP products.  Lead promotion/marketing of EPP products and/or contracts to membership.

Qualifications:

 Bachelor's degree in environmental science, public policy, business administration, health administration, nursing, or social sciences with at least five (5) years of experience in health care purchasing or sustainability position; Master's degree a plus.  Minimum 5- 7 years experience  Knowledge of environmentally preferable purchasing standards, certifications, and labels and familiarity with health care specific concerns and criteria.  Strong research, data collection, and technical and analytical skills.  Strong analytical, database, research and technical skills; high expertise of Excel  Strong, effective, persuasive communication skills - both verbal and written; ability to develop own presentations and effectively serve as the face of the program.
