The Sembawang Archery Club cordially invites you and your members to participate in the annual Sembawang Archery Open. Through this open shoot, we aim to foster better relations among all archery clubs in Singapore.

FORMAT OF COMPETITION Archers in 12 & Under Category will be shooting the 80cm target face at 10m. (2 rounds of 5 ends, 3 arrows per end)

Archers in Novice Category will be shooting the 60cm target face at 18m. (2 rounds of 10 ends, 3 arrows per end)

Archers in 18 & Under Standard and Standard Open Categories will be shooting the 40cm target face at 18m. (2 rounds of 10 ends, 3 arrows per end)

Archers in 18 & Under Recurve, Recurve Open and Compound Open Categories will be shooting the 40cm vertical triple target face at 18m. (2 rounds of 10 ends, 3 arrows per end)

‘ 12 & Under’ Category

1) This category is open to archers who are below or at the age of 12 in the year of 2008. To note, eligibility will be considered based on the year of birth of the archer, not the date of birth.

2) Only Recurve Bow is allowed in this category.

3) There are no limitations imposed on the bow accessories used in this category.

4) All arrows to be used during the shoot should be marked with the athlete’s initials on the arrow shaft and the arrows should be in the same pattern and colour(s) of fletching, nocks and cresting if any.

‘ Novice’ Category

1) Only archers who are participating in a competition for the first time are eligible for this category.

2) Only Recurve Bow is allowed in this category.

3) There are no limitations imposed on the bow accessories used in this category.

4) All arrows to be used during the shoot should be marked with the athlete’s initials on the arrow shaft and the arrows should be in the same pattern and colour(s) of fletching, nocks and cresting if any.

‘ 18 & Under Standard’ and ‘Standard Open’ Categories

1) The bow will be of a simple design, either a take-apart type (with wooden or met- al riser, no shoot-through type) or of one-piece construction. In both types of bow the limbs will be of wooden and/or fiberglass construction.

2) The bowstring material may not be of a higher specification than Dacron.

3) The arrow rest will be of a simple, flexible or rigid design and it will be non-ad- justable. A simple non-adjustable pressure point may be used and will be placed no further back than 2cm from the throat (pivot point) of the handle.

4) One simple draw check indicator, audible or visual, may be used. This device will give only one indication of draw length.

5) The bow’s sight point may not be a fibre optic type and extendable sights are per- mitted as long it is pushed to its last hole. The sight must not incorporate a prism, or lens, or any other magnifying device, leveling, or electric or electronic devices nor will it provide for more than 1 sighting point.

6) Torque Flight Compensators (TFC’s) must not be used. Stabilizers are not al- lowed.

7) Arrows must not exceed a specification of XX75 or equivalent, and will be of an equivalent price range and performance. The nocks will be of simple construction, either conical or insert fitting. The points will be conical or ogival in shape. All arrows must be marked with the athlete’s name or initials on the shafts, and all arrows used at any end will carry the same pattern and color(s) of fletching, nocks and cresting if any.

8) Field glasses, telescopes or any other visual aid must not be used for spotting ar- rows. Shooting spectacles must not be used.

9) Finger protection must not include any locating platform or similar or any device to help, hold, draw or release the string. However, Finger tab with separator is al- lowed.

10) Accessories that are permitted include bracers (arm guards), dress shield, bow sling, belt or ground quiver and tassel. Foot markers may not protrude more than 1cm from the ground.

Note: For the ‘18 & Under Standard’ Category, only archers below or at the age of 18 in the year of 2008 are eligible. To note, the consideration is based on the year of birth of the archer, not the date of birth.

‘ 18 & Under Recurve’ and ‘Recurve Open’ Categories

1) Risers including a brace are permitted provided the brace does not consistently touch the athlete’s hand or wrist.

2) The pressure point may not be placed any further back from 4 cm (inside) from the throat of the handle (pivot point of the bow).

3) 1 attachment is permitted on the string to serve as a lip or nose mark. The serving on the string must not end within the athlete’s vision at full draw. The bowstring must not in any way assist aiming through the use of a peephole, marking or any other means.

4) A draw check indicator, audible and/or visual may be used provided it is not electric or electronic.

5) The sight must not incorporate a prism, or lens, or any other magnifying device, leveling, or electric or electronic devices nor will it provide for more than 1 sighting point. The overall length of the sight (tunnel, tube, sighting pin, fibre optic sight pin and/or other corresponding extended component) will not extend 2 cm in the line of vision of the athlete.

6) Stabilizers and torque flight compensator on the bow are permitted.

7) Arrows of any type may be used provided the maximum diameter of arrow shafts will not exceed 9.3 mm and the heads not more than 9.4 mm. All arrows must be marked with the athlete’s name or initials on the shafts, and all arrows used at any end will carry the same pattern and color(s) of fletching, nocks and cresting if any.

8) Finger protection in the form of finger stalls or tips, gloves, or shooting tab or tape (plaster) to draw, hold back and release the string is permitted, provided they do not incorporate any device that will assist the athlete to hold, draw and release the string

9) Field glasses, telescopes and other visual aids may be used for spotting arrows. Scope must be adjusted no higher than the armpit of the athletes.

Note: For the ‘18 & Under Recurve’ Category, only archers below or at the age of 18 in the year of 2008 are eligible. To note, the consideration is based on the year of birth of the archer, not the date of birth.

‘ Compound Open’ Category

1) The draw weight must not exceed 60 lbs, cable guards are permitted and lastly a brace or split cable are permitted, provided they do not consistently touch the athlete’s hand, wrist and/or bow arm.

2) The bowstring may have a centre serving to accommodate the drawing finger or re- lease aid, Nocking points may be fitted to which may be added serving(s) to fit the ar- row nock as necessary. In addition attachments are permitted on the string such as a lip or nose mark, a peep-hole, a peep-hole ‘hold in one’ device, loop bowstring, etc.

3) The pressure point will be placed no further than 6cm back (inside) from the throat of the handle (pivot point of the bow).

4) A draw check indicator, audible and/or visual may be used provided they are not elec- tric or electronic

5) A bow sight is allowed for windage adjustment as well as an elevation setting. Incor- porate a leveling device, and/or magnifying lenses and/or prisms. Electric or electron- ic devices are not permitted. The sight point may be a fibre optic sight pin and/or a chemical glow stick. The glow stick will be encased so as not to disturb other athletes and to provide only 1 sight point.

6) Stabilizers and torque flight compensators on the bow are permitted 7) Arrows of any type may be used provided the maximum diameter of arrow shafts will not exceed 9.3 mm and the heads not more than 9.4 mm. 8) A release aid may be used provided it is not attached in any way to the bow nor incor- porate electric or electronic devices

9) Field glasses, telescopes and other visual aids may be used for spotting arrows. Scope must be adjusted no higher than the armpit of the athletes

Note: All archers of all divisions are not permitted to have any electronic communication device or headsets in front of the waiting line. COMPETITION-RELATED MATTERS

1) The Organizing Committee reserves the rights to make amendments and its decision on all matters shall be final and binding. This includes the scheduling and timing of the events.

2) The judges’ decision is final on all matters regarding the shoot.

3) Any appeal/protest must be written within 30 minutes after the category has ended. A non-refundable fee of $30 in cash is to be paid regardless of the result of the protest. The Jury of Appeal will be appointed at the organizing committee's discretion.

4) In the case of adverse weather (i.e. thunder storms or heavy downpour) during an event, the event will either be halted or resumed if deemed possible. This will be de- cided on the Organizing Committee’s discretion. For halted events, scores up to the last arrow shot will be tabulated and prizes will be awarded accordingly.

5) It is the team captain’s/ coach’s/ archer’s responsibility that their equipment complies with the rules stated on the invitation letter. The equipment inspections will be con- ducted in a random manner by the judges.

6) A category which was initially segregated by gender (Male/ Female) will be com- bined if there are less than 6 participants in the Individual event.

7) In the Team events, team members must be pre-selected; amendments will not be en- tertained after the commencement of the Individual event. Each Team comprises of only three individuals, all of whom are from the same club and of the same gender. Mixed genders are not allowed in all team categories except for the Compound Open Team Event. The top 8 teams of each category will qualify for the team event. The selection will be based on the total score of the three archers (of the same team) in the Individual event.

8) A Team event will be cancelled if there are less than 3 participating teams. There will be no walkovers. FOR COMPLIANCE BY ALL CLUBS AND ARCHERS

Team Captains:

All clubs are requested to nominate one team member as the team captain/official of the club. The team captain of each club will be responsible for the well being and the disseminating of information to the respective teams.

Attire:

Women are required to wear dresses, skirts, divided skirts, shorts or trousers (slacks), and blouses or tops (which will cover the front and back of the body and be fixed over each shoulder). Women’s tops must cover the midriff when at full draw.

Men are required to wear full-length trousers to end below the ankles or shorts and long or short-sleeved shirts. Men’s tops must cover the midriff when at full draw.

Shorts or skirts may not be shorter than the athlete’s fingertips when the arms and fingers are extended at the athlete’s side, nor longer than the top of the athlete’s kneecap. No denim jeans or oversize, baggy or cargo type pants or shorts may be worn on the field of play (FOP).

All members of one team, including the coach, must be dressed in the same Team shirt. Coaches who coach more than one team during the event can choose to wear the Team shirt of any one of the teams he is coaching.

All athletes and coaches must wear proper footwear (e.g. sport shoes) at all times during the tournament (no dress shoes, sandals, or other open toe shoes).

Dress code for Team event is Standardized Club Shirt and covered shoes. TIME TABLE OF COMPETITION

All payments are to be made in cash or cheque on the day of the competition.

A penalty of $5 per archer will be imposed for late registrations. Registrations after 16 May will not be considered.

No further amendments to registrations will be accepted after the commencement of event on the day of the competition.

No lunch will be provided for both days of the competition. However, there will be a buffet tea/ snack on the second day. Please refer to the map on Page 13 for eating places in the vicinity.
