DICKINSON’S GOT TALENT OFFICIAL RULES AND REGISTRATION Arts on the Prairie is putting on this talent show in part as a fund raiser for Arts on the Prairie.

PARTICIPANT CONSENT & RELEASE Ask any questions prior to submitting your entry form.

DO NOT SIGN UNTIL YOU HAVE COMPLETELY READ THE FOLLOWING:

Dickinson’s Got Talent is a talent show showcasing our region’s top performers.

Eligibility  This contest is available to only US Citizens and permanent residents within a 100 mile radius of Dickinson, North Dakota. Photo identification may be required.

 Contestants under the age of 18 must have permission from their parents or legal guardian to audition.

Time & Place The judging of the contest will take place over the entire seven week period which takes place January 7, 2010 through February 18, 2010. Contestant will compete every Thursday at Prairie Hills Mall. Registration will begin at 5:30 pm every Thursday, with auditions beginning at 7:00 pm.

Auditions & Registration Entry fees: Individuals $10.00 Groups (up to six people) $8.00/person Groups (seven or more) $50.00

Auditions will be held on a first come-first serve basis. It is strongly recommended that you pre-register if you are not a resident of Dickinson, North Dakota. Payment will be due upon receipt of registration. If a contestant should decide to drop out of “Dickinson’s Got Talent”, any entry fee paid will NOT be refunded.

Each entry must be accompanied by a bio for the emcee to read. Some or all of the bios may be read depending on time. Include such things as: What you like to do, Favorite Color, Favorite Actor or Musical Artist, or something unique about you and your family. Please write your bio on a separate piece of paper and attach to your registration.

The undersigned gives permission and understands that their picture may be taken and/or video taped. The video would be used as your entry audition tape for “America’s Got Talent” and to be viewed on Consolidated’s local channel and as needed for promotional and press purposes. Dickinson’s Got Talent holds the right to use the contestant’s name, photo, and/or video for any further publicity purposes. If this is a group application, all members of the group must sign the application. If the any member of the group is under age 18 a parent or legal guardian must sign on their behalf. Any registrations without these signatures will not be accepted.

Each week, contestants will perform for the judges and mall audience. It is strongly recommended that an audition run no more than 3 to 5 minutes. ACTS RUNNING OVER 5 MINUTES WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.

Performances must be “G” rated and appropriate for family viewing.

Liability  Dickinson’s Got Talent is not responsible for theft/damage or injury of any kind, to persons or instruments, props, clothing etc., during, before or after the performance.

Animal Acts are NOT allowed

Physical or Dangerous Stunts  Anyone performing physical and/or dangerous stunts must arrive with their doctor’s permission form.

 The use of machetes, knives, or similar acts will not be accepted. No fire, smoke, or smoke-effects will be allowed on stage at any time.

Vocal Category  In the Vocal category, instrumental accompaniment by the person in the act or others is allowed, but is not judged. It must assume the pure character of accompaniment. The test shall be whether the performance would stand alone. NOTE: CD or taped back-up may be used subject to restrictions in rule

 A cassette tape or CD must be cued properly. We cannot be responsible for any tape or CD, which is not picked up following your performance. Please label each tape with your name for identification.

 No voice or voices or synthesized vocal utterance may be used for accompaniment by contestants entered in the Vocal categories. This includes recorded live voices and voices that are produced and recorded synthetically. (i.e. synthesizers or digitally sampled.)

Instrument Category  In the Instrumental categories, live or taped accompaniment is allowed but must assume the pure character of accompaniment. The test shall be whether the performance would stand alone. Dance Category  In the Dance category, accompanists are permitted on stage, but must not assume visual importance in the performance. There must be no taps or blatant tap effects on a taped recording by a dancer.

Equipment Provided Equipment which will be provided is: PA system, cassette player, CD player, and microphone. Participants must provide all other equipment and/or props. All music must be set to the point needed or counter number indicated (CD’s only).

Season Finale Top finalists must appear one hour prior to the beginning of the show (5:00 pm MDT). Which is at Trinity High School’s Auditorium, Dickinson ND, February 27, 2010.

All contestants must perform a different piece for finals then the one they performed for the preliminary show. This means a dancer must choreograph a new dance, an actor must perform a different monologue, a vocalist must sing a different song, and an instrumentalist play a different piece.

Awards Schedule Weekly Awards – the Top 3 finalists move on to the Season Finale and will be awarded mall prizes and two complimentary tickets to the Season Finale.

Season Finale Awards: Grand Prize  Flight and motel accommodations paid trip to America’s Got Talent audition (upon approval of America’s Got Talent directors and organizers)  Audition tape submitted to America’s Got Talent  $200 cash and trophy  Sponsors Gifts

Second Place  Audition tape will be submitted to America’s Got Talent  $100 cash and trophy  Sponsors Gifts

Third  Audition tape will be submitted to America’s Got Talent  $50 cash and trophy  Sponsors Gifts

People’s Choice (Mall Receipts)  Mall receipt totals can be dropped into the ballot box to send your favorite contestant to the Season Finale.

 People’s Choice (receipt totals) will be move onto the finals. PRODUCER RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REFUSE AN AUDITION TO ANY INDIVIDUAL OR ACT FOR ANY REASON OR NOT AT ALL, AT THE SOLE DISCRETION OF EVENT ORGANIZERS.

EVENT ORGANIZERS RESERVE THE RIGHT OF FINAL DECISION ON ANY MATTERS PERTAINING TO DICKINSON’S GOT TALENT.

Please note that each member of a group act must provide a signature agreeing to the terms of your audition.

I agree to follow all of Producer’s rules, directions and instruction in all matters relation to the Program, which rules are subject to change at Producer’s sole discretion.

I hereby release, discharge, and hold harmless Arts on the Prairie, Prairie Hills Mall, the event organizer, it’s parent, assignees, licenses, agents, and affiliates, NBC Universal Inc, sponsors, advertising agencies, and any and all others connected with “Dickinson’s Got Talent”.

I represent and warrant that I am at least 18 years of age and that I have the full, complete and unrestricted right and authority to enter into this Agreement; or if I am under 18 years old I understand that my parent or guardian must also sign the Personal Release where indicated.

I understand that Arts on the Prairie, Prairie Hills Mall, and the event organizers reserve the right to refuse an audition to and individual or act, in its sole discretion, for any reason or no reason.
