1. Respect self, others, and property.
2. Arrive to class prepared daily.
a. Binder, homework, pens / pencils, Writer’s Notebook IF you took it home.
b. Independent reading book (“ZONE” Book).
*always have an independent reading book with you—the book is your choice;
(Yes, electronic reading devices are permitted).
3. Strive to become a better reader & writer/feel comfortable giving & receiving feedback.
4. Use time wisely.
5. Stay organized.
6. Complete all assignments, both in and out of class.
7. Check Ms. Johnson’s website for any notes or handouts if you are absent.
8. Put time and effort into your work. Electronic Devices Stone Hill Middle School has an open-use policy, which means that students are allowed to use their electronic devices in approved common areas throughout the school. I am a firm believer that technology aids student learning. However, when used at the wrong time, or in an inappropriate manner, technology can disrupt students’ learning. My classroom is considered a “yellow light” classroom, meaning electronic devices may be used for specified, instructional purposes (this may vary). Permission to use electronic devices may be revoked at any time if the student is off task or is using their electronic device inappropriately. Failure to comply can and will result in a referral to the dean.
Retake Policy Any student receiving a score less than 70% will retake a summative test and their parent(s) or guardian(s) will be notified. Steps to retake: 1. Must score below 70% 2. ANY and ALL missing assignments MUST be completed and turned in 3. Must complete re-teaching packet 4. Must attend a re-teaching session 5. Must retake within 2 weeks of the test being passed back
**Students cannot earn higher than a 90% on retake**
Tardies It is important that you get to class on time. When the bell rings, you are expected to be in the classroom. If you are not in the classroom when the bell rings, you will receive an unexcused. Tardies are turned into the seventh grade dean daily, and any repeat offenders will receive disciplinary action.
Quality Work I will only accept quality work. This means: 1. Your name, class, and date are on the top of the paper. 2. All work is legible. If I can’t read it, I can’t grade it! 3. All work that is typed should be in a 12 point Times New Roman font and printed in black ink. 4. Your paper is neat and not crumpled, torn, or stained. 5. You have written or printed on ONE side only.

What is remind? Remind is a free, safe, easy-to-use communication tool that helps teachers connect instantly with students and parents. Students and parents are also able to initiate a Chat with the teacher!
How does it work? First, a teacher adds her class, which generates a unique code. The teacher then shares that code with students or parents. At that point, any student or parent who sends a text message with the code will be "subscribed" to the teacher's class. Any time a teacher sends a message from Remind, all the students or parents subscribed will receive it. Using this method, no one knows each other's cell phone number; the teacher only sees a name in her sign-up list online, not phone numbers. Do I have to sign up? Sign up is NOT mandatory. However, it is possible that you may miss important updates. Not to worry, I will still send out email updates every quarter through my lcps.org email account!
Sign-up is FREE! (standard text messaging rates may apply) To sign up for your teacher's messages, you need your block’s Remind class code and class phone number. You then have the option to receive class messages via text. To receive text messages: Text the class code to the class phone number. For example, if the class code is "math" and the phone number is 555-555-5555, you would send the text message: @math ---- to --- 555-555- 5555 **
Block Class Code (text this) Class Number (to this #) 1A @ 3390a 81010 2A @3390af 81010 3A @3390af6 81010 6B @3390af6a 81010 7B @3390af6a2 81010 8B @3390af6a2d 81010 ***If you receive an error message and are unable to join, please email me and I will send you an invitation message.**Ms. Johnson’s Language Arts 7 Supply Set Up Directions
