Group and Ministry Notes

SUNDAY SCHOOL OPEN HOUSE/REGISTRATION On Sunday, August 27th we will be having an open house for Sunday school. This will be a time for families to come and see our updated Sunday school classrooms as well as complete required registration forms for Sunday school attendance. Those students completing the required registration forms will receive a golden ticket for a prize on Rally Day, Sunday, September 3, after both services. (Forms attached at end).

Additionally, this Sunday, August 27, is Blessing of the Backpacks! Students are encouraged to bring their backpacks for a blessing from the congregation. This will be completed during 'Time for Children' at both services.

ADULT MINISTRIES Grandmothers in Prayer will begin this Friday, August 29 at 9:00 a.m. at the church in Room 201. Besides lifting our grandchildren up in prayer, the 8 week class will use Kay Swatkowski’s A Grandmother’s Prayers for daily devotions and discussion at the weekly meeting. Linda Austin will facilitate the class. Please call her to reserve your book and to get your name on the list: 619-549- 1480.

Next Walk to Emmaus for Seniors, named Face to Face Encounter # 5 is coming in September. No matter where we are in our Spiritual formation with Christ, this Encounter provides the opportunity for growth. Face to Face follows the Walk to Emmaus Method and is Daytime only: 8:30-3:30 Friday and Saturday September 22 and 23, followed by Friday & Saturday September 29 and 30 At FUMC in nearby Mission Valley Many Seniors with or without limited mobility prefer sleeping at home more than the three day cloistered Emmaus Experience. Sunday, September 17 we invite you to join the Youth Group in the Wesley House Youth Den at the beginning of the 10:30 a.m. Worship Service to help assemble lunches for the homeless ministry at the Imperial Beach United Methodist Church.

Sunday Youth Bible Study Is Back! Every Sunday during second service join us in the Youth Den for fun games and Bible studies! This Fall we will be finishing up Paul's letters of the New Testament. (Jr. High & High School)

* Youth Worship will still happen every Sunday at the first service... Meet Liz on the front lawn before service for donuts and a youth worksheet.
