 The “It’s Cool to Stay in School” car give-away is coming to an end this month. Any seniors who have no more than 13 periods of non-school related absences from October 1st through April 30th will be put in a drawing to win a brand new car at graduation! Attendance counts - including Homeroom! Students who meet the criteria will be sent an application in early May. Remember - “It’s Cool to Stay in School”!

 The John Powers Memorial Scholarship is offered to seniors who are legal dependents or grandchildren of law enforcement or fire department personnel in the A.V. Deadline: 4/19

 The Raymond H Krueger Scholarship is given to Antelope Valley seniors who are pursuing a course of study in a national resource management, biology and botany, agricultural or related field. Awards range from $500 to $2,000. Deadline: 4/30

 The “Great Minds in STEM” Scholarship program is offering scholarships ranging from $500 to $10,000 to seniors who intend to pursue a science, technology, engineering, or math degree at an accredited college or university.  The Shawn Carter Foundation Scholarship is available to high school seniors. In order to be considered for this award, you must demonstrate a desire to pursue a higher education in the face of personal or socio- economic setbacks.  Digital Responsibility is sponsoring an essay contest for $1,000. Each year there are 20 to 50 million tons of e-waste discarded in the world. E-waste contains toxic materials, including heavy metals, that can easily seep into the ground and ultimately get into groundwater supplies. According to the EPA, recycling e-waste allows more than 100 million pounds of materials to be reused annually. The purpose of this scholarship is to help understand the impact of e-waste and what can be done to reduce e-waste.  American Addiction Centers established scholarship awards to students pursuing careers in behavioral health and addiction–related studies. Students eligible for scholarships are those enrolled or will be enrolled in behavioral health, nursing, counseling, psychology, social work, marriage/ family therapy, or other program focusing on treating mental health and/or substance abuse issues. $10,000 in Scholarships are being awarded.
