BIBLE BOWL COMPETITION 2013
BIBLE BOWL GUIDELINES: 1. Each district may submit ONE junior level team (ages 5-15) and ONE senior level team (ages 16-22). Participants should meet the required age range by the time of the event. 2. A team must have a minimum of 4 participants and no more than 8 total members per team. 3. IMPORTANT*** COACHES: IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO CONTACT BIBLE BOWL COORDINATORS WITH THE TOTAL NUMBER OF TEAM MEMBERS ON EACH TEAM BY JANUARY 21, 2013 IN ORDER TO PREPARE FOR PURCHASING TROPHIES. 4. All junior team members must register for Session I ONLY, and all senior team members must register for Session II ONLY. 5. If there are an odd number of teams competing per session, then the champion team from the previous year will defend its title by competing against the winner of the first two teams. 6. ONLY FIRST and SECOND PLACE WINNERS from both sessions will be awarded individual trophies.

BIBLE BOWL RULES : *** ( COACHES PLEASE REVIEW RULES WITH TEAM ) 1. A team can have a total of only 8 members, however only 4 members per team can compete at one time during competition. Each team must be accompanied by an Adult Coach. 2. Substitution of team members are permitted only at the end of each round. 3. Two teams will compete in 3 ROUNDS by answering a total of 15 questions on the following topics: a. (10) Bible questions from the assigned book of the Bible (2 points) b. (5) COGIC History questions (2 points) c. (5) COGIC Doctrine questions (1 point) d. The score from each round will be carried into the next round and totaled at the end of the third (3rd) round. 4. In the event of a tie, 3 additional Bible Bowl questions will be asked to determine the winning team for the competition. 5. All Bible questions will be asked in sequence of chapters. 6. Judges assisting with the competition will include: a. An adult moderator, or caller, asking the questions. b. Three-member panel judging the answers given by team members c. A scorekeeper. **On the day of competition, the panel of judges will be given a copy of all questions and answers with chapter/scripture references for Bible questions. 7. The moderator will announce the topic of the round. Each team will select 4 team members who will answer the questions for that round. Team members may not confer with each other during the questioning. 8. Each team member should listen to the entire question before buzzing in to answer the question. However, should a team member stop the moderator by buzzing in before he or she has completely read the question, the moderator will stop immediately. The person will have 15 seconds to answer the question correctly, for which he or she will be given a point. Should the question not be answered or answered incorrectly point(s) shall be taken away. 9. Then the moderator shall read the question completely and the opposing team shall have 15 seconds to answer the question correctly, or they may decide to pass on answering the question. If they buzz in before the entire question is orally read, they must answer the question correctly to receive point(s). If an incorrect answer is given, the opposing team will lose point(s), as well. 10. When 15 seconds have expired and neither team can answer the question, a judge will announce the correct answer and the moderator will proceed to the next question.
PROCEDURES FOR CHALLENGING QUESTIONS: 1. Only COACHES are allowed to challenge the decisions of the judges at the end of a round or before the moderator proceeds to the next round of questions. 2. To properly challenge a question or answer, the coach should stand and remain standing until recognized by the panel of judges. 3. The judges will hear the challenge question or comment at that time. The panel of judges will confer with each other concerning the question or comment(s). 4. THE JUDGES ARE IN COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE COMPETITION AND MAY DISCUSS THEIR DECISIONS WITH BIBLE BOWL COORDINATORS. THE JUDGES’ DECISIONS SHALL BE FINAL ON ALL MATTERS. 5. Judges may consult with Bible Bowl Coordinators for assistance with final decisions. (NEW) 6. Insubordination by any district team or coach may be disqualified from the Bible Bowl Competition.
Please Note: Bible Bowl teams are encouraged to invite district supporters/audience to cheer for their team. However, the audience must refrain from verbalizing answers or in any way assisting their team. Any form of cheating will result in disqualification of team from the competition.

At Large Bible Bowl Team: We are targeting churches that have never participated or have not done so in a while because they could not get enough members together for a team.
