Growing Up Doesn’t Have To Be Hard Dear 5th Grade Parents/Guardians, During the weeks of May 24th and June 1st I will be discussing growth and development as it relates to adolescence; the bodily changes children can expect during puberty. Every effort will be made to help your child feel as comfortable as possible in order for her/him to share and express ideas and concerns. Boys and girls are separated for this talk. If you have not already done so, you may want to discuss this with your child beforehand. I strongly encourage you to discuss it afterwards as well, so any misconceptions, if they exist, can be cleared up as soon as possible. Emphasis is placed on maturation, not reproduction. You are welcomed to contact me if you would like to discuss the curriculum. If you do not want your child to participate in this discussion, please write a letter stating your position and send it to me at your earliest convenience. Thank you, Andrea Cortese, RN School Nurse
