EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING Minutes of January 4, 2009 Meeting

Board Members Present: Don Beazizo, Nicki Luper, Don Dalziel, Keri Von Moos, Jonathan Sarr, Robert Polk, John Patton, absent Curt De Haan, and Mike Curl. The meeting was called to order at 3:01 PM.

Consensus Agenda. M/S/P  Approval of Agenda as E-Mailed – Additional Agenda Items may added at this time  Approval of December 7, 2009 Meeting Minutes as distributed  November Tournament financial and register reports

Information  WIAA letter to Cascade High School dealing with sportsmanship plan.  WIAA State Championship mini trophies ordered. Congratulations to the State Champions that represent Northwest District One.  Coaches vs. Cancer night. NWC and Cascade Conference. Jan 28th & 29th B/G Basketball and Wrestling.  New IAC member to the NW District One Board. Jim Freeman – Mount Baker SD  Officials Evaluation and Education process/plan. Will discuss at the February meeting.  Classification process.

1. Finances a. Approval of December Finance Report and Register Report – DRAFT - M/S/P b. Approval of December Tournament Financial and Register Reports – DRAFT – M/S/P c. Fall Sport Tournament Financial Report d. Certificates of Deposit Report e. Pass Sales and Membership Report f. 1099’s for the 2009 tax year

2. Rule Violations. La Conner High School self report. Rule violation 23.3.2 M/S/P to accept the recommendations from the NW 1A/2B League.

3. Ejections. a. Schools are reminded to forward the information on any ejections to the District Director the day after the ejection occurs.

4. WSSDA Report – Welcome Jim Freeman – no report

1 5. WIAA Report – Harlan Kredit. A total report was sent out to member schools. Harlan went over the highlights of the report with the NW Executive Board. Should consideration of travel be a high priority when looking at State Events? Should fair travel between East and West for State contest be a higher factor? These and many more questions that will be discussed in the coming months. a. Review of Amendments b. Process to review and develop positions on the amendments c. 7. Winter Sport Tournaments a. Dates/Sites/Managers. Are on the NWD website. b. Tournament Bulletins. Information bulletins are being posted on the web site as they come into the District Director. All bulletins are due by January 14. c. Approval of Playoff Brackets. All previously approved. d. Request for Officials for Basketball and Wrestling. The requests are being sent to the officials for the basketball and wrestling tournaments being hosted by the NW District.

8. League Reports. a. Northwest Conference: No Report b. WESCO: Next league meeting will deal with league alignment with 4A/3A schools. ACLA Linda Mangle will be speaking about Title IX. Cutting and still staying in compliance. Open to all NWDist. #1 school’s. c. NW1B: Concern about Northsound Christian and changing from a 1B school to a 2B school for the next two year classification cycle. d. NW 2B1B: No report e. Cascade Conference: No report f. Middle Schools N/S: No report.

9. Winter Coalition. Arrangements for the Coalition were reviewed. It is scheduled for Monday, January 25, 2010 at the Renton Convention Center beginning at 9:00 AM. Northwest District Executive Board members and league contacts will be attending to represent the Northwest District.
