This is your opportunity to demonstrate your understanding of the concepts presented in the Energy and Waves Unit through a creative project. You must choose one of the topics below as the basis of your project. Then choose a way to share your knowledge about that topic from the list of formats.

Topics (choose only ONE):  Types of Energy  Parts of a Wave  Heat and Temperature  Mirrors, Lenses, Prisms  Energy Efficiency  Sound  Types of Thermometers  Types of Light  Heat Transfer (conduction,  Primary colors and convection, radiation) pigments  Electromagnetic Energy

Formats (choose only ONE):  Draw and Label a Poster (11” x 14” or larger)  Write a Report (at least 1 page, front and back)  *Write and Perform a Song or Poem (at least 10 lines)  *Act out a Short Skit or News Report (3 – 5 minutes) – other students may be additional actors, but credit will only be given to the writer  Construct a Model  Design and Carry Out an Experiment (report on your findings)  *Create a PowerPoint Presentation (at least 8 slides)  Write and Illustrate a Children’s Book (at least 8 pages)  Make a Board Game Project formats with a * must be presented to the class. Other formats may be presented, but it isn’t a requirement.

This project is worth 100 points, broken down as follows: Content – 50 points Creativity – 30 points Workmanship – 20 points 10 points will be deducted from the score for each day that the project is late, until the fifth day after the due date.
