Administration: Charlotte Siemens, Heather Reid

Call to order: at 7:10pm

Acceptance of Minutes:

Small change in first paragraph Principal’s report: “We have 700 students and over 25 spots still open” should be “We have 700 students and 20 spots still open”. After these changes made Shelley motioned and Dave seconded. All in favor.

(Vice) Principal’s Report:

Charlotte Siemens: - Cinderella Musical production by Yale will be visited by all Fraser students on February 18th. Small contribution of $5 required, rest will be supplemented from student fee (expensive to buy 700 tickets and bus all students). - Few field trips to snow experiences have been postponed and hoping for weather to turn. If snow remains absent, reimbursements will be issued. - Many basketball tournaments from Grade 7s and 8s well attended and Fraser Falcons played very well! Huge “thank you” to Ryan McWhinney and all coaches. - February 20th ProD day: Shared Learning workshop - Also a huge “thank you” to Heather Reid for her time and effort to finally get the electronic signs on top of the building. Finishing touches to be made soon and then training will be given to the appropriate people to work with the signs. - Apologies for not being able to send synervoice out today to inform all parents about PAC meeting (system is down throughout whole district). Notice was given through Fraser Facebook page as well as the continued “second Wednesday of every month” schedule.

Heather Reid: - Satisfaction Survey coming out soon for parents of Grade 4, 7, 10 students. - FSA’s are happening. Grade 7 students write “exam” consisting of reading & writing comprehension, math and a booklet to be written about a given topic. All results are coded by teacher and sent to the School District. They submit a report about every school to the Fraser Institute and it will show a “snapshot” of how the child/school is doing. ALL Grade 7 students take the tests, even if a child has adaptations (for example a calculator or someone to write for them are needed and provided to those students). Under special circumstances students may opt out, written consent needed from parent. Results also looked at on Ministry level. - Health and Safety Survey made by Samuel Coleman (on staff at William A. Fraser). Kids of all ages enrolled in SD34 will answer age appropriate questions regarding their eating and drinking habits. Do they eat enough fruits and veggies and for older kids questions regarding alcohol and energy drink intake as well as possible drug use. SD34 currently looking at the survey.

Chairperson’s Report:

Nothing to report. Paula Schieven is at the school regularly and finds overall atmosphere very positive and checks in with admin as well.

Treasurer’s Report:

As presented, numbers looking very positive: General Acct: $12,162.07 Gaming Acct: $13,687.37 Total $25,849.44

DPAC’s Report:

No rep available for report.

New Business:

- Charlotte requested extra money to help fund the electronic sign. This sign has been previously discussed and found to be of great value for PAC to inform parents of upcoming meetings, need for parent volunteers etc. Request was for $5,000. Moved by Jenny, seconded by Dave. All in favor. - Request from PAC if it is possible to pay money towards renovating the library. This place is very outdated and even with small changes (crafts) by volunteers and library-tech, it is rough to make the place look inviting. Library is used by all 700 students as well as the lunch hour library club. Paula will check with Erica about any wishes to modernize the place and subsequently for Erica to get in touch with SD34 to get pricing on any renos. Will go on agenda under “Old Business” for April meeting. Note: PAC went upstairs to visit library after meeting.

Draw: Wendy and Shelley’s name were drawn for Timmy/Starbucks card.

Meeting adjourned: at 7:35 pm

Next meeting on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 @ 7pm (no meeting in March due to spring break – PAC exec wants to wish all parents and students a great time off!)
