IndyFurCon is bringing back the Fursuit Dance Competition for its third annual year, hosted by Dalmy. With exciting performances from talented dancers, both familiar and new, we can’t wait to see what level of competition arises this year.

A few important details about the event:  -The main event will take place in the Main Events Ballroom, where the big events happen. Make sure you arrive early to get seats and set up all your fancy cameras, and of course to prepare your throat for a lot of cheering!  -This is a very action-packed event with lots of loud music and lighting effects. If you have any health concerns regarding noise levels or the lighting equipment of the event, please do not hesitate to contact convention staff.  -Potential and interested competitors will be able to register for the event online and at the panel (details within document). Competitors will have to pre-qualify in a preliminary round (see below info). Potential competitors, PLEASE CAREFULLY READ this next section of details, as they are vital to participate:

1 - There will be a "preliminaries" panel for those that are interested in competing. This is a closed panel with no spectators. This will be held in Indianapolis A on Friday evening. Attendance is mandatory for those wishing to participate in the fursuit dance competition. All interested competitors must arrive at least 15 minutes before panel start time (7:45pm). Due to the increasing number of competitors, the preliminaries may involve cuts. We apologize for this, but due to time constraints we simply cannot have everyone compete in the final show, as much as we’d like to. This event also serves as the hand-in for all music/media. 2 - This is a FURSUIT dance competition. Competitors must attend both the preliminaries and the Finals on Saturday in their performing suit. Acceptable entries are:  Fullsuits  Halfsuits/Partial suits (head + paws + tail + FEETPAWS minimum)  (Competitors please note: heels, slippers, sneakers are not acceptable replacements for feetpaws. This is a new rule in effect so that all competitors are able to perform on a more equal ground. If you do not have feetpaws for your suit, try asking around to borrow some!) Non-acceptable entries are:  Zentai suits  One-piece PJ's/kigurumis  Tail/ear combinations If you have any questions or concerns about anything regarding attire, please contact convention Programming staff.

3 - This event is rated PG-13, so please minimize all profanity, suggestive content, and/or racial/religion/hate slurs that may be part of your character/attire/music. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS FOR THIS RULE - FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION. If you have questions on if your music is acceptable for finals, please email your questions to [email protected]

4 - Interested competitors must come to the preliminaries with their desired music that they will perform to on Sunday morning. Songs will have a maximum time of 2 minutes & 30 seconds, but competitors may choose to perform to shorter tracks. You MUST bring your music in MP3 or WMA format (others will not be accepted), and on a portable device such as a USB Key, CD/DVD drive, etc. We will not download music for you. THIS IS IMPORTANT!

5 - The preliminaries will take about an hour long, depending on the number of competitors. Please make sure you are able to stay the ENTIRE panel! (There will be water and quick access to the headless lounge for fursuiters). You must be in attendance at the panel before the start time in the schedule - we will do roll call, and those not in attendance will not be able to compete.

===Format: Preliminaries and Finals=== Preliminaries: The preliminaries panel will consist of ALL COMPETITORS DANCING TO THE FIRST MINUTE OF THEIR SONG. This is mainly to warm you up and also for the judges to be able to give feedback on your performance before Sunday. Make sure you have something to show in that one-minute, as we will be judging you based on that. Callbacks/elimination rounds will only be done if there are an excess of competitors - we want to include as many dancers as possible, of all skill levels and dance styles. Group auditions will be counted in the same bracket as solo auditions, in terms of determining how many groups and soloists make it to Sunday’s finals. As stated before, you must bring your prepared “final” music into this panel for your preliminary.

Finals: The finals will consist of all competitors, which we will put together in a list, putting on their performances one-by-one. Your performance must not exceed 2 minutes 30 seconds in length; if so, we will manually fade it out. Each performer will then receive brief commentary and feedback from the judging panel.

We will be experimenting with a newer, more simple judging system. We will be ranking the dancers each round based on a lowest-score system, rather than by highest score. This allows for the judges to easily rank their top performers without wasting time on specific numbers.

As a reference, here are some of the things that judges may be looking for:

-Originality: Unique and/or interesting moves, avoiding repetition -Musicality: Movements/groove matches with music, moving with the beat/rhythm -Execution: Clean movements, no stumbling or sloppy moves, moves flow together -Character: Adds character/flavor to movements, brings life to the dance

After every performance, the judges will re-rank the dancers. When the competition is over, the scores will be added up - the Top 3 dancers with the lowest scores will be the winners. The judging system will look like this: (names are used only for example - not actual data)

Competitor: Roy 1 1 2 3 Ookie x 2 3 4 Frisk x x 1 1 Lisha x x x 2 At the end of the competition, the judges will tally up the points and announce the Top 3, along with any honorable mentions.

Important note to competitors: While this is a dance competition, remember to enter with a mindset of having fun and sharing positive vibes with the crowd and your fellow dancers. Even if you don’t make it to the top 3 or an honorable mention, everyone's a winner in the end and we’re all here to have a good time and make the crowd roar with delight!
